I agree that Powell is a reluctant warrior(pacifist) and he is a socially liberal republican. But he is a republican and currently, the Sec.of State.
I believe that Bush is using him to our best advantage and when he is used up, he will retire again. I see no reason to trash the man. That's all.

Well, Arlen Spector is a republican too, that doesn't make him any less of a menace. I'm not a republican and have never been able to understand why someone is tolerated because of party affiliation. Powell was the worst possible choice for Sec'state. That he is a liberal and is welcome in the GOP should make you rethink your party. When you support someone just because of what party they belong to, things are in a mess.
