(LifeSiteNews) — Denver Archbishop James Golka has ordered Father Chad Ripperger, the most widely heard living American priest on exorcism and spiritual warfare, to cease all public ministry for one year, LifeSiteNews has confirmed directly with the priest.
The order seems to cover public appearances, online homilies, and writings. Talks already booked are to be cancelled.

Archbishop Golka was appointed bishop of Colorado Springs by Pope Francis on April 30, 2021. Leo XIV named him the archbishop of Denver on February 7, 2026, accepting the resignation of Archbishop Aquila.
Chris Jackson, writing at Hiraeth in Exile (“Leo XIV’s Golka Appointment: Rewarding a Cover-Up”), argued that the Denver promotion rewarded Golka for removing the canon lawyer that took the case of the abuse victims in Chiclayo, Peru, who accused Leo XIV of coverup.

Wondered why he was ordered to be silent for a year, until I saw the latter part of the exerpt. One would almost think Ripperger is being silenced because he is effective, sort like what was done to Bishop Strickland.
Matthew 16:18 comes to mind.
I typically avoid this forum on FR because quite frankly I've seen a lot of very un-Christlike behavior because of doctrinal differences. Please keep it civil.
Some Catholics do not like to hear it—but if they don’t like the church (and for good reasons in my view) then they should leave it.
They are not the Pope and should not pretend otherwise.

For a while I thought this guy as probably AI. Now that he has been sentenced to silence, maybe AI can speak in his place.
Ripperger was becoming a victim of his own popularity. It is poison for a person doing exorcisms.
I used to follow his work and saw him setting himself up for a tough lesson. When I mentioned it on here about a year ago, I was attacked by Freepers.
I knew he was very limited in his abilities when he mentioned that it takes many sessions to do an exorcism. If you have the connection that does the work, an attached spirit will never allow the host to get near you again. It’s one time and done or you never see them again.
As a great sinner, and un-christ-like often on FR, I will say
Trust that Jesus is God and is in complete control.
Padre Pio did.
And everyone could use a vacation to become more holy.
If only our failed priests suffering sexual addictions were given time off instead of sent back into satan’s lair, to eork on holiness, perhaps for the rest of their lives.
Our cancelled priests: God is working on each.
