🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem🇮🇱 (10/23/26)[Prayer]

Personalities

Psalm 61[a]

For the director of music. With stringed instruments. Of David.

1  Hear my cry, O God;

    listen to my prayer.

2  From the ends of the earth I call to you,

    I call as my heart grows faint;

    lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

3  For you have been my refuge,

    a strong tower against the foe.

4  I long to dwell in your tent forever

    and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.[b]

5  For you, God, have heard my vows;

    you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.

6  Increase the days of the king’s life,

    his years for many generations.

7  May he be enthroned in God’s presence forever;

    appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him.

8  Then I will ever sing in praise of your name

    and fulfill my vows day after day.

The other day I shared with you how Tippy learned to swim. Everybody should know how to swim, not only for sport and enjoyment, but also in an emergency. None of us want to learn "The Hard Way". Knowing how to swim can save your life, but there are times when the current is so strong that even a strong swimmer is overwhelmed.

This can occur even in shallow water. The following story happened in water that was "belly high".

Lumaha'i Beach, on the Island of Kauai, was the setting for a scene in the movie South Pacific. It was on this beautiful beach of sand and black rocks that Nellie "washed that man right out of her hair", and the tour books are always quick to point that out. They do not point out, however, that sometimes there is a nasty riptide on that particular beach.

In 1991, Mike and I were in Hawaii for the first time, driving around on that beautiful island. There's only one road going around, so it is impossible to get lost, and all we had was the map provided with the rental car.

"Oh look!" I exclaimed. "That's Lumaha'i Beach where they filmed "South Pacific! Let's go for a swim!"

The fact that we were all alone, and that no Local People were swimming there, should have been a clue that, while the beach may have been perfect for filming, it probably wasn't so good for swimming. But, being "Malihini" (First-Time Visitors), that thought didn't occur to us. So we parked the car by the side of the road and went in.

Almost immediately, I felt the ocean pulling me lengthwise down the beach. While an undertow pulls a person OUT, a Riptide pulls you sideways. It was overwhelming, as if the entire force of the Planet was pulling me along. I was able to grab a big black rock that stuck up out of the water, and pulled myself up onto the beach. Then Mike and I had to walk barefoot at least 3/4 of a mile back to the car. Perhaps there should have been a sign that said "NO SWIMMING". Or maybe there was a sign, but we ignored it.

In subsequent visits to the Island, we would again drive by Lumaha'i Beach, but realized that it is for photo-shoots only in that location.

No matter how strong we think we are, we can be easily overwhelmed by the weight of the world. There was not a man more "in tune" with God than David, and yet, he got overwhelmed many times. It is in those times we have to cling to the Rock, that is higher than any of us.

And, while we are at it, it helps to wash that "old man", the deceiver, the one who likes to overwhelm us, RIGHT OUT OF OUR HAIR.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. (Mark 4:22)

Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America-250.

Peter learned the lesson the hard way when he boasted he would not forsake the Lord and he did just that-3x.

[DarthVader]

Psalm 91

1 You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,*
2 will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.’
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence;
4 he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
or the arrow that flies by day,
6 or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
or the destruction that wastes at noonday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge,*
the Most High your dwelling-place,
10 no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.

14 Those who love me, I will deliver;
I will protect those who know my name.
15 When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble,
I will rescue them and honour them.
16 With long life I will satisfy them,
and show them my salvation.

[etabeta]

My prayers always. God bless.

[norsky]

Amen to your word, sometimes beautiful places are dangerous. I got stuck on the east side of that island on a steep beach with a powerful under tow, fortunately I was with a guy who threw by legs up so I could ride further up the beach. Water is powerful.

Was it Ke’e beach? The one at the end of the road?
