Holy God,
Thank You for setting Your glory above the heavens! When we consider the vastness of all You have created, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained . . . then we stand in awe of You, Lord God—especially as we enjoy the beauty of autumn. We bow before You for You are Holy and Worthy of our praise. We confess that You have done great and mighty things by speaking them forth. Holy God, how excellent is Your Name in all the earth.
Help us to daily think upon You, the absolute Truth of Your Word, Your Name, and Your power. May we consider those things that are true, and honest, just and pure, those things that are lovely and of good report. Help us to focus our days on You, Lord, and to turn our eyes away from evil things. Our strength lies in our connection to You through the Spirit.
We confess, Lord, that our nation has sinned against You. Have mercy on us, Lord, for we desire repentance from such evil. We confess that we have fallen far away from You and that the current level of discourse in America is but one indication of how far we have moved from You. We pray for Your forgiveness, Lord, and we ask for the restoration of this once great land. We pray that the electorate would choose leaders in the upcoming election who are men and women of integrity. And may You, our God of peace make each of us complete in every good work to do Your Will.
Father, please protect us from the storms of nature this weekend. Many Americans are in the path of high winds and flooding. We pray for Your hedge to be around us all, and may we all look out for any neighbors in need.
Our military men and women need You and they need the prayer support of those whom they represent and defend. Help these precious ones, Lord, and keep them strong in Your power and might as You faithfully add to their ranks.. We pray that the Iran War would be ended soon without any further casualties. We pray special prayers for those military chaplains who in previous administrations have been severely punished for praying in the Name of Jesus. Father, bless our current Commander-in-Chief and reward all those who have been unashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Be their Banner and Shield, their Sure Defense.
Each new day presents many opportunities for every one of us to honor You, serve You, and love You. Help us to put away worthless wastes of our time, and to spend our days in meaningful service and fellowship with You. We have but one life to live on this earth, Lord, and we ask You to help each of us to host Your presence here, so that Your will may be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Psalm 91
1 You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,*
2 will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.’
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence;
4 he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
or the arrow that flies by day,
6 or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
or the destruction that wastes at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge,*
the Most High your dwelling-place,
10 no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.
14 Those who love me, I will deliver;
I will protect those who know my name.
15 When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble,
I will rescue them and honour them.
16 With long life I will satisfy them,
and show them my salvation.
Commemoration of the Holy Fathers of the Seventh Ecumenical Council
Troparion
Most glorious art Thou, O Christ our God, / Who hast established the Holy Fathers as luminaries on the earth. / By them Thou hast guided us on the path of the True Faith. / O Most Merciful One, glory to Thee!
Kontakion
The Son, Who shone forth ineffably from the Father, / was born of a woman, in two natures. / Beholding Him, we do not deny the image of His form, / but depicting it piously, we revere it with faith. / Therefore, the Church, holding the True Faith, / venerates the Icon of Christ’s Incarnation.
.......The Council decreed that the veneration of icons was not idolatry (Exodus 20:4-5), because the honor shown to them is not directed to the wood or paint, but passes to the prototype (the person depicted). It also upheld the possibility of depicting Christ, Who became man and took flesh at His Incarnation. The Father, on the other hand, cannot be represented in His eternal nature, because “no man has seen God at any time” (John 1:18).......
Apostle Philip of the Seventy, One of the Seven (original) Deacons
Troparion
Filled with divine grace, / you served God the Word as a deacon of the Church, O Apostle Philip. / By the working of miracles and by signs from God / you enlightened the multitudes of Samaria. / O blessed one, entreat Christ our God to grant us His great mercy.
Kontakion
Inspired by the All-Holy Spirit, / you enlightened the entire world by your teachings and resplendent miracles, / Apostle Philip, sacred initiate.
