Did you know that the Bible has more to say on laziness than drunkenness? Yet, how often are we quick to judge someone when they've had a bit too much to drink, but neglect to chastise another person who sits around all day and does nothing? Laziness is a pervasive, insidious disease in our society, one that seems to be growing in leaps and bounds. No one seems to want to work hard anymore. They want the easy life, the easy job that doesn't require much of them, the cushy couch and big screen TV and fancy vacations, but work?? Don't make me work too hard!! It's not fair! We need to remember the wisdom given to us by Solomon.
The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.

I'm reminded of the story out of Florida some years back, where those excursions would take tourists out to the ocean to see the dolphins. It was great to see God's animals frolicking in the water, the tourists would even feed the dolphins tuna and sardines when the friendly mammals came to the boats. However, the government forced the excursions to stop allowing the tourists to feed the dolphins, because the dolphins got lazy and stopped hunting for food. They even began teaching their offspring how to wait for boatloads of tourists bearing buckets of chum instead of how to hunt for wild fish in the ocean. The dolphins were getting lazier and lazier with every generation and forgot how to work for their food. Sound familiar? Interesting how the government noticed that free handouts without any requirements of work can devastate generations of dolphins, but not notice the destruction it does to human societies.
This is what happened in 1623 when William Bradford, the Governor of the Plymouth Colony, wrote in his memoirs, “Of Plymouth Plantation.” Bradford was a wise man who noticed that the results of forcing settlers into a communal system was destructive to the colony. He noted that when land and crops were shared equally, it caused widespread discontent. The colony was suffering from food as many, especially the younger men, had become they expected others to work, while they became lazy, which led to food shortages that wrecked havoc on the early settlement. This is why Bradford wrote in 1623, that he decided to abandon the collective arrangement which today we recognize as Socialism/Communism. So he assigned private land plots to each family, which greatly increased productivity and food supplies. By installing Capitalism, an economic resurgence began that saved the colony.
Men never learn from the past, and today after 60 years, we are seeing the results of our government moving into an economic system that rewards laziness. In order to keep in power, politicians continually use the concept of ....

May I become a sluggard after retiring? Plans are already on paper.
All is well, but don’t let yourself become a couch potato. The biggest contributor to the death of men when they retire, is they stop working all together, and die from inactivity. Be sure to find yourself a hobby, to keep yourself physically active brother.

Another reason not to become a sluggard, any time of your life.
If you stop moving you will literally begin to rust. The insides of your arteries build up flakes of solidified calcium-cholesterol and roughness, causing blood clots that then move and block vital life functions in the brain, heart, organs and muscle structure through your body, any one of which could lead to early disability or even death. The joints become inflexible and painful to even try to move, and like an old abandoned piece of machinery, soon passes beyond much chance of restoration.
Keep moving. The body may eventually wear out, but it is better to wear out than to rust out, and is is much better utilization of your remaining life resources, and may even extend the remaining time by a surprising margin.
Unless you do not like living. Then laziness is probably the best option.
Combine this with niggardly, and you have a typical Democrat.

I was an EMT. When we would respond to a heart attack call, we would always see a recliner. It’s why I won’t have one.
Now I’m looking at my recliner in a way I never before contemplated.
Yes I agree. Maybe I should have added it as a sentence with a scripture. Hmmmm. I’m a piker, who continually picks at my commentaries as others open my thoughts to other points. Sadly, this is how my commentaries get to be way to long though. LOL
I had a great uncle, born in 1880. He lived on his dairy farm, and in later years his daughter and son-in-law took it over.
One day, after he finished feeding the cows, he felt tired, went inside to take a nap, and never woke up. He was 96 years old.
That’s my goal. But I don’t own a dairy farm.....

You can be a functioning drunk but, you are non-functioning if you are a lazy

My great great grandfather lived to be 105. He got on his horse to go to church, and fell off. He died 2 days later. He had a long and lustrous life.

I have a big problem with those who cant seem to get the gumption to even cut their own grass. I talking about the ones with a postage stamp size yard. Not those who hire others to do it. They have enough money that proves they worked hard. Well most of them
Another good one is where we are told to watch the ants.
Actually the four mentioned should give us all pause about our own nature of ignorance at times.

But Jesus was not lazy. He walked hundreds of miles just to heal the sick and spread HIS message.
