Vincent Gelot, director of L’Œuvre d’Orient in Lebanon…described the difficult reality facing Christians in southern Lebanon as being “caught in a vice” between Hezbollah militants attempting to use their villages to launch attacks across the border and Israeli military operations that have left homes, schools, and convents destroyed or occupied.

If Iran wasn’t supplying Shia Hezbollah with money and weapons with which they regularly attack Israel, the Christians of Lebanon would have nothing to worry about from Israel.

Defeat Hezbollah so they can’t re-arm and continue to attack Israeli civilians from bases in Lebanon, which is a war crime.
not to be too critical but if the west had supported the Lebanese Christians years ago instead of just talk talk and blah blah, the Islamic terrorists would not have been able to take over so much of the little country (and drive hundreds of thousands of Christians out)

The article in no way absolves Hezbollah militants. Lebanon used to have many more Christians, but thousands left due to Islamic takeover. These were obviously the ones most committed and tied to their land to stay behind.
But you try to lay some blame on Israel. I’m talking about you, not the article.
But America's recent wars have not been as existential as Israel's. So I do try to see it from Israel's perspective of survival.
And from that angle: I'm not sure the cost of battering and permanently displacing these civilians is justified at this juncture, in this particular conflict even with Hamas in the picture. The regional reach seems to go beyond just fighting off Hamas.
