Hi Hebrews 11:6! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you. Still up to your old tricks! I’m surprised at how many in Jesus’s genealogy have paintings. I’m surprised Rahab didn’t show up in the paintings.
Pleasant Surprise to receive This!
Wonderful to “see” you again Dan. Very nostalgic for our days immersed in beautiful art and scripture.
The family tree shows it well.
Joseph was the legal father of Jesus, but not the genealogical father of Jesus.
Count me in, please.
Should have included her.

I wouldn’t be happy if you didn’t join in!
Matthew was meticulous.
You are in. See you tomorrow, God willing......................
"Jacob Wrestling with the Angel"
Genesis 32
24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.
25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.
26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.
28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.
30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
31 And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.
32 Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh in the sinew that shrank.
Jewish Identity:
One of things out there in Jewish teachings is that a Jew is a person who answers a question with another question. (Of all the nerve.)
And detractors know that if anyone is able to strike a nerve... it's *that* guy.
🙃
And speaking of birth narratives and genealogies hiding in plain sight where no one thinks to look because that's too EZ,
The passage where Israel first appears is also the place of the First Noel [נואל] of the Bible, in the name Penuel פנואל,
the what/where/whom he had passed right over as the Sun rose upon him.
I'm on my second cup of coffee and I still can't face the day
I'm thinkin' of the lady who got lost along the way
And if I don't stop this tremblin' hand from reachin' for the phone
I'll be reachin' for the bottle, Lord, before this day is done

I'm on my second cup of coffee and I still can't face the dawn
The radio is playin' a soft country song*
And if I don't stop this tremblin' hand from reachin' for the phone
I'll be reachin' for the bottle, Lord, before this day is done...

I’ve missed these posts. Good to see them back, even if just for a little while.
Merry Christmas!
Thank you! I love the concept.
Wishing you the merriest of Christmases, Ezekiel.
Might do this again for Easter, but I’m not (yet) hearing God’s call for a third run through the whole Bible.
Good, Homer!
:)
The art show is back!!! Thank you!
