No. Folks only “require” the truth that’s in the scriptures.
If they think they need myths and legends it is a weakness of their faith and a weakness scripture cannot always serve to overcome. When false poses present modern “prophetic” versions of myths and legends, the weak in faith fall for them.

What is more "modern" than protestantism which didn't exist at all prior to 1500?
Again, you will note that the men who wrote these histories and ancient sermons always tie what they write back to Sacred Scripture. Patristics is the gateway to Scripture for many, many people.
