“Tucker Carlson interviews Shroud of Turin expert, proving the resurrection of Jesus is real”
Wow what a headline.
I have studied the Shroud and do believe it likely to be Jesus’ shroud. But a Tucker interview in and of itself doesn’t prove Jesus rose from the dead.
I guess the wording of the headline struck me as funny in a certain way. :-) Editors about to be replaced by AI I guess.
There’s a big jump between saying that a fascinating and profound puzzle ‘proves’ anything.
I don’t need any shroud or other artifact to believe that the resurrection of Jesus is real.
On a previous thread, it was clear from the responses that neither Catholics nor Protestants who believed the Shroud to be authentic based their faith upon it.
Yeah, it’s one in a cloud of witnesses. Nothing compels belief, unless it’s a personal experience like the one that Saul had.
Joh 20:6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there,
Joh 20:7 and the handkerchief that had been around His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded together in a place by itself.
So at least two cloths, with one just for the face.
Lazarus appeared to have been buried the same way:
Joh_11:44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
The shroud appears to be a clever fake that succeeded mostly because of bible ignorance.
I thought Jeremiah Johnston made his way into the mountain.
I AM a believer, and let’s assume it is indeed THE burial shroud of Christ. I do not see how the shroud provides proof of the Resurrection. Perhaps it is one vital artifact to consider when weighing the preponderance of the evidence supporting the Resurrection.
Why do you think they’d both be kept together through the centuries?
“proves”
The interesting thing is, even if that concept were possible (to prove the resurrection) - there will still be a lot of people that won’t believe.
‘Believe’ is the operative word.
Could you explain how the shroud appears cleverly faked.
The shroud has an image of the whole body and the head/face...correct?
That doesn’t mean that the image couldn’t have been impressed upon the Shroud.
Many people don’t think that the image was merely the result of cloth coming in contact with the body.
(Explain, if you will, how the image shows as a negative image, but that wasn’t even seen until photography had developed sufficiently)
With today’s technology it would be a simple thing to test the DNA to see if it is Blood or not.
Hey look! Here’s the missing cloth!

Except that today’s scientists can’t explain how it was done, nor can they produce it. The shroud is over twice as long as the body, it shows both front and back views.
Read it wasn’t dated back then. Gotta wonder about Isaiah 50:6.
Isa 50:6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
Also seem to remember Hezekiah destroying the bronze serpent the Jews were idolizing(2Kings 18:3,4)
I suppose if this brings faith to Jesus have at it but it should not be the foundation of faith.
