The Church got it right when it identified books inspired by the Holy Spirit and those not. I’ll take the teaching & preaching of the authors of the NT over any contradictory ‘contemporary’ teacher or teaching.

It’s funny how as one goes along the ‘teachings’ of certain ones look less and less like the teachings of Jesus and what the apostles followed and died for.
It’s more slander against the person living in Catholics minds. ML merely pointed out is was practiced in OT times but did not think it was appropriate for modern day Germany. God never approved of polygamy but knew David and Solomon were going to do it anyway. God allowed it but never approved of it.
Further proof the Bergoglio isn’t the Pope.
Apparently he isn’t even Catholic.
Possibly not Christian, either.
Martin Luther was the total opposite of Francis. He was leading the church back to the faith as it was in the beginning, and Francis is taking it to an uncertain and dangerous future.

Stick with the problems in your own church, ebb tide. From bias and lack of knowledge, you have mischaracterized Luther.
One can’t separate Bergoglio from Luther.
They are both “problems”.

Luther: "My faithful warning and advice is that no man, Christians in particular, should have more than one wife, not only for the reason that offense would be given, and Christians must not needlessly give, but most diligently avoid giving, offense, but also for the reason that we have no word of God regarding this matter on which we might base a belief that such action would be well-pleasing to God and to Christians. . . . a Christian . . . must have, in addition, a divine word that makes him sure, . . . For this reason I cannot advise for, but must advise against, your intention, particularly since you are a Christian, unless there were an extreme necessity, as, for instance, if the wife were leprous or the husband were deprived of her for some other reason."
I find Luther in error in the middle of the three bold-faced portions of his quote, given that 1 Corinthians 7:2-4 has: But because of the temptation to immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. [3] The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. [4] For the wife does not rule over her own body, but the husband does; likewise the husband does not rule over his own body, but the wife does.. That to me sounds like a no-more-than-one-spouse teaching. Then of course there's 1 Timothy 3:2 (but one could say that rule was specifically for deacons/leaders, not average Joe Christians).
So I'll cut Luther some slack on forgetting this one thing in Scripture (monogamy) while teaching against polygamy, all while teaching the main point, which is: trust Scripture over anything anyone says.
Luther was leading souls out of the True Church, just like Francis is.
Will you publicly renounce the wearing of the scapular that's around your neck and say you've tossed it in the trash and will never wear another idolatrous thing like that again?
ebb calls multiple people “father”, while falsely claiming that Luther said to call multiple people “wife”.
