The paradox, in this last case, consists in the fact that this tiny group appeals mainly, not to octogenarians nostalgic for a rite that they can barely remember from their youth, but, precisely, to young people, and at a rate of growth that is difficult to find in any another ecclesial reality.

This is the point that Michael Knowles often makes so well, “The Catholic Church is perhaps the only institution in which people in their 80s and 90s routinely tell people in their 20s and 30s to get with the times.”
