Fourteen members of an obscure religious cult have been indicted on charges over the death of an eight-year-old girl, including her father and mother.
Queensland police allege that Elizabeth Struhs died in Toowoomba in January, 2022 after being taken off her type-1 diabetes medication so she could be healed by God.
Members of the sect - one of whom said in court they would never seek legal advice as they don't care if they are found guilty - also allegedly prayed while Elizabeth died.
Her father Jason Richard Struhs, 51, and alleged religious group leader Brendan Luke Stevens, 61, have both been charged with murder.
They, along with four other men and eight women, all appeared before the Brisbane Supreme Court on Thursday.
he state's Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Todd Fuller KC presented their indictments, the Chronicle reported.
The other 12 members of the group, including Elizabeth's mother Kerrie Elizabeth Struhs, 47, are charged with manslaughter.
All 14 have been remanded in custody since they were arrested last July and they all represented themselves in court, having refused legal advice.

I have a strong appreciation for the medical professions, and I couldn’t imagine being led to die by my parents. It’s sick, and while they may have solace in believing that their child is with God, it is still, at best, negligent homicide.
Why were we given the ability to create and use medicine if we don’t use it to care for the most vulnerable? This isn’t the middle ages.
That not a settled affair by any means
