Cardinal Hollerich: Critics of the Synod ‘Won’t Be Able to Stop’ It

Cardinal Hollerich: Critics of the Synod ‘Won’t Be Able to Stop’ It

The general relator of the Synod on Synodality made a number of bold statements this week including the assertion that Christian Europe is a “thing of the past.”

One of Pope Francis’ closest aides and a leading figure of the Synod on Synodality has singled out critics of the process, calling them afraid of a “Church on the move” and saying they “know they won’t be able to stop” the synodal experiment.

Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich of Luxembourg, the general relator of the 2021-2024 Synod on Synodality, also issued other bold statements this week including asserting that the idea of a Christian Europe is a “thing of the past,” that people should be accepted and not judged, and that Benedict XVI’s former personal secretary Archbishop Georg Gänswein had betrayed the former pope by not staying in Benedict’s “shadow.”

The Jesuit cardinal, who last year called for a revision of the Church’s teaching on homosexuality, told Quotidiano Nazionale Jan. 26 that he believes “those who want Pope Francis to resign do not want a Church on the road.”

The Pope’s mind “is still clear, thankfully,” he said, but he acknowledged that there are some in the Church, including bishops and cardinals, who would like him to resign. “They are the same circles as those who are afraid of the Synod and of a Church on the move, no longer stuck in the past,” he said. “In truth, they know that they will not be able to stop it.”

"The Jesuit cardinal"

I have to imagine Ignatius Loyola would not be pleased with what has become of the religious order he founded.

Sorry but the Jesuit order has devolved into an unspeakable, agnostic, homosexual cabal. This “Jesuit cardinal” is a prime example how the Church hierarchy has been permeated and often controlled by evil men.

You know, the Jesuits are fairly well known for their weird thinking today. That is an interesting thing you propose. I wonder what the founder of the order would think about the things they push in his order?

Thought provoking.

“those who want Pope Francis to resign do not want a Church on the road.”

The Pope left the Church long ago.

I want the Bishops to recognize that fact.

I want the Bishops to declare the Seat of Peter empty and call the College of Cardinal to elect a new Pope.

The irony is that the Jesuits were founded as a 'thinking order' in response to the (rightly justified, imho) Reformation that was spurred by the abuses of the Church.

'Apostate' is a harsh word to use, but it sure appears that way.

If ex-soldier Inigo de Loyola turned up in 2023 and saw the crap that the modern Jesuits were pushing and the way that they’ve become obsessed with legitimizing homosexual sodomy... well, they’d likely need to hide the man’s swords and cannons.

It’s not the church of your forefathers, in other words.

Nor of God.

I agree. I read a little about him once and yeah, he would be displeased. And shocked.

Papa Frankie is a gelatinous mess - intellectually speaking.
Sad.
Too bad he doesn’t have any Catholic friends who could help him keep his hat on tight.
