A Second Exodus!

Apocalyptic scenarios involving war and climate have captured the attention of the media. But rather less focus has been trained on Jewish refugees attempting to flee Russia and Ukraine after nearly a year of gruesome hostilities there.

Also coinciding with a massive increase in worldwide antisemitism, the return to their ancient homeland of Jewish people from the four corners of the world is a key aspect of end-time biblical prophecy (see, for example, Isaiah 11:11f & 49:12, Jeremiah 23:7f & 31:8; Ezekiel 36:24). And Christians are called to help with the process.

“See, I will beckon to the nations, I will lift up my banner to the peoples; they will bring your sons in their arms, and carry your daughters on their hips.” (Isaiah 49:22)

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last February 24th, some 70,000 Jewish people have made Aliyah (i.e. returned to Israel) from the region, mostly from Russia and Ukraine.

On the flipside of the prophetic Aliyah, we have the antisemitism which is growing like a man made virus in Wuhan.

This article reminded me of the now deceased white house correspondent Helen Thomas. Whose anti Semetic comment ended her career.

Demanding that Jews should “get the hell out of Palestine,”

To which she was asked, and to go where?

Here is how one proud Jewish reporter stated the outburst...

I asked her, “Where should they go?”

“Home!”

“Where’s home?” I asked.

“Poland and Germany.”

Back home to Poland and Germany. I wish I could go back to the shtetlach and shtieblach of Poland. My grandparents’ town of Drobnin, where on a Friday evening the smell of challah no doubt permeated the town, and candles twinkled in the window of every home. I wish I could go back. But not one shtetl, not one candle, not one Jew is there. The anti-Semites erased them.

Two days later, I was on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” with Howard Kurtz. I can’t remember what he asked me, but I know the answer was that the Children of Israel and the Land of Israel are one, and that is what Helen Thomas and those who want to delegitimize Israel are denying.

David Nesenoff is an independent filmmaker, blogger and publisher. In the 1990s, he counseled youths who had committed bias crimes, and worked as a consultant to the U.S. Department Justice. In June 2010 a video he made went viral; the video showed Helen Thomas, the so-called “dean” of the White House media corp, making anti-semitic statements.
