The Vatican has made clear that no priest may deny Communion to Catholics in good standing because they want to receive the Sacrament kneeling.
(LifeSiteNews) — A Catholic parish in the Diocese of San Bernardino is requiring parishioners to sign waivers before receiving Holy Communion kneeling – a move that may violate Church law.
St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Community in Beaumont and Banning, California, announced the rule in a bulletin for the week of December 18, 2022.
The bulletin notes that the parish “highly discouraged the receiving of [C]ommunion while kneeling down” due to unspecified “incidents that happened in the past caused by people kneeling down when receiving [C]ommunion.”
The parish church “does not have [C]ommunion rails or kneelers to assist you when you get up and so you will be responsible for any harm that will cause to your body or to the ministers and people around you if you will have an accident,” the bulletin adds. “If you would like to continue receiving [C]ommunion kneeling down, we ask that you sign a waiver that releases our parish for any liability that may arise due to your action.”
“You will also be legally responsible,” it continues, “for any harm that your action may cause to the ministers or the people around you when taking [C]ommunion kneeling down,” which was the standard practice of the Catholic Church for centuries until the 1960s.
The recommendation against receiving the Eucharist while kneeling “is for your safety and the safety of our ministers and the people around you, and also to protect the sanctity of the Body and Blood of Christ,” the bulletin further stated.

What times we now live in.
“unspecified incidents”
How lame.
They could accommodate their parishioners by placing a kneeler near the altar.
Gotta speed up the line to get people out in under an hour...
That's what we did at our parish before we put in the permanent altar rails. I tell you, it is a thing of beauty to now see almost everyone in the congregation receive on their knees.
What an incredibly stupid statement. I can tell you this: I don’t normally receive Communion on my knees but you can bet I’d do it every time at that parish.
Everybody seems to be able to live with it quite nicely.
Orthostatic hypotension from standing quickly after kneeling for a period of time. You can lose consciousness and whack your head on the bench ahead. This is not the church’s problem. If you have orthostatic hypotension, you know it. If you cannot kneel simply bow your head.
When I get up in the morning, I sit on the edge of the bed for about 15 seconds then stand up. My normal blood pressure is low normal. I do not want to whack my head.
And of course they could solve the whole problem with two prie-dieus at the head of the aisle. But the whole point is, they don't WANT to solve the problem.
I sometimes wonder if there are any sane people left in my church or my government.
Even in the most uber-traditional chapels in the traditional mass-it is always understood that if you are not able to recieve kneeling you may recieve standing on the toungue.
The example and silly waivers of this novus ordo parish shows where their prioritie$ are focu$ed.
The amount of time kneeling for receiving Communion is about 20 seconds at best under usual circumstances. So, like you said, if you have a problem you will know it and should refrain from doing it without some sort of stabilizing railing or something.
They want the "PROBLEM" gone.
How in all that is holy, including the holy sacrament, does NOT kneeling "protect the sanctity"? You kneel BECAUSE the elements are sacred, BECAUSE you want to receive our Lord in all humility, BECAUSE He must increase and we must decrease.
I have lymphedema in both legs, and it hurts to kneel and hurts more to rise, so I only do it once a week, in the presence of my Lord, and will continue to do it until either my legs or my heart gives out--not to show off as a saint, but because as a sinner I can do no less. I am grateful that I attend a church where all kneel when they receive the Lord's body; it isn't Catholic of course.
Religiosity.
Stand, sit, kneel, sit, kneel, stand, kneel, sit, kneel, stand... what did he say? I have no idea, he is speaking in Latin.
Would Jesus approve of this nonsense?
Does God care if you are standing when you should be kneeling?
OF COURSE NOT!
Does He care if your priests diddle little boys? YES!
Catholic Church is unbiblical in almost everything they do
Interesting article.
The thread that follows will be complete garbage.
At my church, we only receive kneeling at the altar rail, both species, on the tongue.
Wrong.
