Pope Francis to Muslim Elders: God ‘Never Incites Hatred, Never Supports Violence’

ROME — Pope Francis told Muslim elders in Bahrain Friday that God is the source of peace and he “never brings about war, never incites hatred, never supports violence.”

“I have come among you as a believer in God, as a brother and as a pilgrim of peace,” the pontiff told the Muslim Council of Elders, so that “we can journey together.”

In passing, the pope also addressed concerns of alleged human rights abuses in the majority Sunni Muslim nation, especially of the country’s minority Shiite Muslim community. In recent years many Shiite activists have been imprisoned or deported, and the largest Shiite opposition group has been outlawed.

“I offer … my prayerful hope that the peace of the Most High may descend upon each of you … who desire to foster reconciliation in order to avoid divisions and conflicts in Muslim communities,” Francis said.

“We, who believe in [God], are called to promote peace with tools of peace, such as encounter, patient negotiations and dialogue, which is the oxygen of peaceful coexistence,” he said.

“Peace is born of fraternity; it grows through the struggle against injustice and inequality; it is built by holding out a hand to others,” he declared, which is made possible “by eliminating the forms of inequality and discrimination that give rise to instability and hostility.”

What about hatred for sin? After all, God sent His only beloved son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross to pay the price for all the wrongs ever committed by mankind.

If I remember correctly, didn’t Jesus kick the money lenders out of the temple. Bet that wasn’t too peaceful.

Yeah Pope, like the Crusades, the Inquisition, burning heretics at the stake for reading, preaching or studying scripture not approved by the “vicar of Christ”.

Hmmm…

I seem to remember at least one time when God ordered the Israelites to completely raze cities and leave nothing living.

Who is lying? The Old Testament or the Pope?

“Pope Francis to Muslim Elders: God ‘Never Incites Hatred, Never Supports Violence’”

In light of circumstance, He would most likely drill the first stone.

Jacob I loved, and Esau I hated.

“These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

God hates those who do iniquity, those who do evil, and love evil.

Moreover, you shall not follow the customs of the nation which I will drive out before you, for they did all these things, and therefore I have abhorred them.

All their evil is at Gilgal;
Indeed, I came to hate them there!
Because of the wickedness of their deeds
I will drive them out of My house!
I will love them no more;
All their princes are rebels.

I guess he’s not very familiar with Scripture then.

Consider that Ecclesiastes 3:8 KJV says that there is “a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.”

There’s also King David’s “resume.”

The Crusades were a defensive action.

After 300 years of muslim invasions, Christianity had started to push back, first at Tours, then in Turkey and Syria.

The promoter for the first crusade was the caliph destroying the tomb of the Holy sepulchre in Jerusalem and slaughtering pilgrims. The Roman emperor in Constantinople asked for help from the Frank’s and they sent aid

Apparently, Frank never read the Old Testament when God constantly was sending people out to wars. But popes and the Bible aren’t all that connected, anyhow.

Never supports violence? That is distinctly unbiblical. Hardly surprising with this pope.
