I don’t believe it’s “the Messiah”

Because this is EXACTLY what Jesus foretold and warned about

(If top rabbi are truly reporting that they are having secret meetings with β€œTHE MESSIAH”, and that he is about to be revealed to the public, then this is just yet another sign that we are in the last minutes of the last days of the age of Grace.

YES!... we know the real Messiah is coming for His bride, and not having secret meetings with rabbis in Israel.

We also know that the rapture takes place BEFORE that man of lawlessness is revealed. 2 Thes 2:3)

No one knows, not even the son of man, of that day and hour of when the messiah will return. It is possible that the ‘messiah’ whom they are communing with is the Antichrist himself. Now that I can believe. He will come to deceive even the elect. Jesus, who is the true messiah, will not come until the Antichrist has shown himself and sits on the throne in the 3rd temple (which has yet to be built) declaring himself as ‘god’ which will be the abomination of desolation. I’d be careful whom I spiritually communicate with if I was a Rabbi in these dangerous end times.

If 1260 is equivalent to 1948, what year is equivalent to 1335?

1335-1260 = 75

75 + 1945 = 2020

Where did the 45 years after 1978 come from, to arrive at 2023?

I'm sorry. That was a mistype on my 10-key pad. Instead of 45 years I meant 75 years.
So, assuming my theory is right, it's: 688 + 1260 = 1948
+ 30 years = 1948
+ 75 years = 2023

many thanks!

my math was also off; I had 1945 instead of 1948, so the “75 + 1945 = 2020” should be 75 + 1948 = 2023.

What are your theories on eschatology? Do you think there’s any rationale for my theory that our American bias keeps us from looking at entities like the Ottoman Empire as a possible empire in the Daniel 2 statue of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream? It’s possible that instead of the iron and clay feet being Europe, it’s the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman Empire controlled the Jerusalem area a lot more than England or Europe did (not counting the Roman Empire, probably already listed in the statue). And it could be said that the fragmented nature of the OE (think of the nation states in North Africa that were loosely part of the OE) is a good example of iron and clay not holding together well.

That’s an interesting take.
Can you elaborate on it?

What about a “Revived Ottoman Empire”?

Turkey is certainly is a very powerful spot right now (economy aside).

For starters, I realized that some of the prophecies of world conquerors that we say have already been fulfilled, didn't mean that the conqueror/empire took over the entire global world. They took over that region. Therefore, it's possible that some eschatological prophecies are the same. Maybe the tribulation isn't going to be over the entire planet, but the middle east region. Maybe the antichrist's rule over the "world" is for that region. Maybe the various plagues and events from the seals and trumpets is for that region. In that light, Islam in many ways fulfills the prophecies.

Already in most Muslim countries you can't buy or sell unless you're a Muslim. It could be that the mark of the beast on the forehead and wrist aren't literal marks, but symbolic of your creed. Think of the commandment God gave Moses to put the teachings on their foreheads and wrists. It could be that Revelation's descriptions of the mark of the beast and mark of Christ are describing which creed you adhere to or identify as. It's been that way for centuries in most Muslim countries, including during the years the Ottoman Empire controlled Jerusalem.

It's possible that the events of the seals, trumpet blasts, and bowls don't happen in a brief period, like all within a few years or in one century. We don't necessarily have to have either a preterist or futurist perspective on eschatology. It could be both. It could be that some of the events in Revelation happened within 6 or 7 centuries after the revelation was given to John, and some happened centuries after that, and some centuries after that, etc. With the latter ones happening lately.

Revelation 12 could be about the Jews coming back to Israel in 1948 (verse 14's "time times and half-a-time" is often seen as 3.5 years or 1260 days, often thought to mean 1260 years). It could mean that the dragon being enraged in verse 17 and waging war against the rest of her children, those who obey God, are the Muslim nations being mad at the west, who at the time of Israel's restoration were very much Christian nations.

If that's the case, then maybe Revelation 11 before that, the text about the two witnesses, are about Christianity and Judaism being the two witnesses. It could be that them being in mourning for 1,260 years is about neither Christianity nor Judaism flourishing for a while after the Ottoman Empire became a thing and conquered not only the middle east and north Africa, but much of Europe as well. Revelation 11:4's description of the witnesses as two olive trees and two lampstands might be referring to them being the ones with God's Spirit and truth. They're the ones serving the real God. Verse 6's description of no rain could be the desolation from Daniel 12 -- and we know from history that so much of what the Ottoman Empire took over became desolate. Part of that was their habit of letting their cattle eat up all of the grass, unlike other people controlling the grass cattle eat by rotating the pastures. Part of that was from a horrible climate change that we today call the Little Ice Age that spanned from AD 1300 to the 1800's. In that period crops had low yield, rain patterns were harder to predict and had years long droughts followed by heavy damaging gully washers, and deaths by plague increase. The Little Ice Age cooling period was the worst in the past 7 or 8 thousand years. Something that hasn't been the case since the west (Christians at the time) reconquered Jerusalem in World War I (and the Modern Warm Period beginning in the 1800's). By the way, for the past century you've been able to buy or sell in Jerusalem even if you have the mark of Christ (are a Christian). The "two witnesses" of Christianity and Judaism who control Israel today allow it.

At least, these are some of my thoughts.

“The day will come when Israel as a whole will recognize the one they rejected and cast out and they will weep.”

They will soon, one day (as a nation) receive the very One they rejected 2,000 years ago.

Not much more than seven years into the future would be my guess.

Zechariah 13:

6 And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.

Come Lord Jesus!

Jewish people do not recognize Jesus as the fulfillment of scripture. Jesus is the reason for the Christian church. They are not the same Messiah - no matter what our Christian education teaches. I lived two years in Israel, and they hold the Christian one rung on the ladder below the Arab/Islamist. In a sense they are correct by their way of believing because the Arab came first before the gentile even though our Church came before Islam. Hard to reasonably argue with them. I accept their beliefs in spite of their dismissive attitude about Christianity.

"In a sense they are correct by their way of believing because the Arab came first before the gentile even though our Church came before Islam."

Aren't Arabs also considered to be gentiles? Β  (It is my understanding that the Jewish definition of "gentile" is anyone who is not a Jew. Β  Am I wrong about that?)
