Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,

Blessed Are You,

Oh LORD, Our God,

King of The Universe

You Alone Are Worthy,

You Alone Are LORD,

There is No One Like You.

Oh How They Conspire together, Father,

Against You and Your Beloved!

They Hate You and Your Law,

How Much More So Do They Despise Your Servants?

Give Us Peace in Our Hearts When We Look at These Situations,

And Give Us Insight into What Is REALLY Going On.

Open Our Eyes to The Spiritual Warfare that Is Taking Place,

So That We Will Be Armed properly,

And not take these attacks personally.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Exodus 6

Family Record of Moses and Aaron

13 Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron about the Israelites and Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he commanded them to bring the Israelites out of Egypt.

14 These were the heads of their families[d]:

The sons of Reuben the firstborn son of Israel were Hanok and Pallu, Hezron and Karmi. These were the clans of Reuben.

15 The sons of Simeon were Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Zohar and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman. These were the clans of Simeon.

16 These were the names of the sons of Levi according to their records: Gershon, Kohath and Merari. Levi lived 137 years.

17 The sons of Gershon, by clans, were Libni and Shimei.

18 The sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel. Kohath lived 133 years.

19 The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi.

These were the clans of Levi according to their records.

20 Amram married his father’s sister Jochebed, who bore him Aaron and Moses. Amram lived 137 years.

21 The sons of Izhar were Korah, Nepheg and Zikri.

22 The sons of Uzziel were Mishael, Elzaphan and Sithri.

23 Aaron married Elisheba, daughter of Amminadab and sister of Nahshon, and she bore him Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

24 The sons of Korah were Assir, Elkanah and Abiasaph. These were the Korahite clans.

25 Eleazar son of Aaron married one of the daughters of Putiel, and she bore him Phinehas.

These were the heads of the Levite families, clan by clan.

26 It was this Aaron and Moses to whom the Lord said, “Bring the Israelites out of Egypt by their divisions.” 27 They were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt about bringing the Israelites out of Egypt—this same Moses and Aaron.

Oh how I loved Gilbert & Sullivan when I was a kid. By the Sixth Grade I had memorized four of their Comic Operas (HMS Pinafore, The Mikado, The Pirates of Penzance, and Iolanthe), and Dad would take me to a live performance every time The D'Oyly Carte Opera Company came to Boston. I still have some of the old records, but they are in tough shape because I played the grooves out of them.

One of the major plot devices of these operas was the "babies switched at birth", "long-lost brothers", and "secret identities", such as members of the Peerage breaking bad and becoming pirates. These were common plot devices in Victorian drama, because of the great emphasis on social class and paternity. There were no DNA tests in those days, so it was very important to know who one's father was.

One would think that this plot device would have fallen by the wayside, but it was pivotal in the Original STAR WARS Trilogy. The shock of the audience the first time they heard Darth Vader say:

"I AM YOUR FATHER",

we all screamed together with Luke Skywalker:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

It was unthinkable!

Luckily, by the end of the first Trilogy, Darth Vader was redeemed, but then they had to make another 6+ movies to back-track and explain how this could have happened. None of the subsequent movies, in my humble opinion, were as good as the Original Three.

So now, the Exciting Book of Exodus is interrupted again by a list of Begats. This list is the Genealogy of Moses and Aaron. Aaron is Moses's older brother, apparently born before Pharaoh's evil degree to kill the Hebrew boy babies. While we may think this interrupts the narrative, it is really important. There are no "Gilbert & Sullivan" moments in Scripture. Everybody is just who Scripture says they are., and the Authors of the Bible seemed to be much better at keeping records than the Victorians (or the STAR WARS Evil Empire) were.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
