The Pope said that 'the Church loses its pastoral nature' when Communion is denied to pro-abortion Catholic politicians and that 'it causes a political problem.'
VATICAN CITY (LifeSiteNews) – Pope Francis has broken his silence on the U.S. Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which grants states the power to outlaw abortion, saying that bishops must be “pastoral” with pro-abortion politicians.
In a 90-minute interview with Reuters’ Vatican correspondent Philip Pullella, published Monday, the Pope said that while he respected the court’s decision to overturn the landmark 1973 ruling which imposed abortion on all 50 states, he cannot “speak about it from a juridical point of view” because he had not studied the law, the report stated.
Although declining to comment on the once purported, and now overruled, “right” to abortion in the U.S., the pontiff did state his opposition to abortion, likening the barbaric practice to “hiring a hitman” in remarks reminiscent of his 2018 condemnation of abortion.
The Pope asked: “Is it legitimate, is it right, to eliminate a human life to resolve a problem?”
Pullella reportedly questioned Francis on the controversial issue of Catholic politicians receiving Holy Communion while openly supporting the “right” to kill children in the womb, especially in light of Catholic U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi regularly receiving the Eucharist. Pelosi has advocated abortion and subsequently been barred from Holy Communion by her local bishop, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco.

Glad you asked because it can be confusing. Fact is the two thousand year old Catholic Church is alive and well but was driven back to the catacombs as it were when Satan at the Satan Council (Vatican, 1962-1965) transformed what formerly was the Catholic Church into the Conciliar Church, which has become simply another Protestant sect. Since then Latin Mass communities around the world have been ministered to by priestly societies such as the Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX). Those societies are the refuges of many holy priests who have declined to accept the Novus Ordo (New Order) novelties such as receiving the Body of Christ in the hand, and others which are now the norm in Conciliar dioceses everywhere.
False headline. The pope did not criticize withholding communion from Pelosi, despite apparently being badgered to do so.
On distributing Communion to pro-abortion politicians like Pelosi, Francis, who spoke in Italian and without aides present, said, “When the Church loses its pastoral nature, when a bishop loses his pastoral nature, it causes a political problem. That’s all I can say.”
“That’s all I can say” means he’s not weighing in on the matter, leaving it up to (presumably to bishops and theologians) to decide what the Church’s pastoral nature and what the Church should do regarding a POLITICAL problem.
Personally, I’d like clarity in orthodoxy from the pope, but let’s not empower Nancy by falsely claiming she has the backng of the Pope, shall we?

Two matters I forgot to mention in my earlier response:
(1) If there are no Latin Mass communities close to where you live, another option would be to attend any Greek or other Eastern Orthodox church service.
(2) If a better understanding of the devastation to the Church caused by the Satan Council would be of interest, here’s an analysis that was published almost 20 years ago.

I hope you find your way back to the Church. If you aren’t drawing closer to God, you’re drifting away. You may have accomplished what you wanted to, but I suspect that the good Lord wants more.

Good advice which I shouldn’t have overlooked, because when my Dad spent his final years at the Jeanne Jugan Residence of the Little Sisters of the Poor in D.C., I used to attend Mass at the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church located right next to the LSOP Home.
