Icons in two different chapels inside the Church of the Holy Sepulchre were found to be streaming myrrh recently.
A video posted on the “Orthodox Church (Православная Церковь)” Facebook shows four icons in the Chapel of St. Longinus and the Chapel of the Scourging streaming myrrh.
The phenomenon was noticed by pilgrims at the nighttime Liturgy on Monday-Tuesday.
The Jerusalem Patriarchate is reportedly studying the icons and is expected to make an announcement soon.
NOT Facebook icons. ;-)
“...thanks a lot for the gold and frankincense, er, but don’t worry too much about the myrrh next time. All right?”
Easy on the Onions.
I have seen this happen twice with icons in two churches in the Chicago area.
I have frankincense and myrrh that I use as ointments for cuts, bruises, etc.
It’s a Myrrhacle
“_____ comes with all signs and lying wonders.”
Yeah, could be a miracle, might not be.
The temptation to create “strange fire” (old Testament reference) and the appearance of a miracle is strong. But God doesn’t seem to appreciate being impersonated.
“Myrrhacle”

😆
Good one.
:-)
Why do icons do that? Anything significant that was happening in the parish life where you saw this phenomena?
What an odd lot
So what miracles would meet your approval?
Considering the icons it would be a good call to repent.
Bttt.

God does miracles ... angels use technology ... and there are good angels and bad angels. Are you familiar with the history of icons and Judaism? I can think of ONE brass snake on a pole and curing snake bites. But the Israelitesd turned that into an icon and had to be turned away from such, a couple hundred years later when their little icon statuary was cleaned out. God read about that in the Old Testament. You will learn something important about icons..
This happened twice in my parish: once in 1988 before I was there, and once in 1996. I don’t recall anything in particular going on in the parish. People just showed up on Sunday to find liquid coming from the eyes of the icon of the Virgin Mary. Of course, people speculated why the Virgin was weeping. The priest called it a miraculous sign: something done by God to get our attention. The tears continued to flow for some weeks, and thousands of people came to see it.
Church authorities always investigate such phenomena to make sure they aren’t fake. They had the tears analyzed at a university lab and it was found to be an organic substance that replicated itself. I don’t remember exactly what they said it was. The priest had been a friend of mine for some years before I began attending the church, and he took me behind the iconostasis in 1996 to show that nothing had been rigged to make it happen, so I have no reason to believe it wasn’t real.
I have heard of numerous healings associated with the icon and the tears. I have personal knowledge of one of them. A young man had advanced and terminal leukemia and was given only a short time to live. He was engaged to be married and wanted to cancel the wedding but his fiancee wanted to marry him anyway. The priest prayed for him and anointed him with tears from the icon. That was twenty years ago and he is still alive and healthy. He was advised by his doctors that, because of his cancer treatments, he either couldn’t or shouldn’t father children. He has two healthy sons.
Thank you. Very interesting and inspiring.
