It’s not about being a theologian, it’s about knowing human form; it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that a created being does not have a mother hence no umbilical/navel. That painting of God giving life to Adam is a hoot; God with a navel?

Before the Fall, they were covered by the Shekinah Glory of God, so their nakedness could not be seen. I wonder why so many artists portray the couple as homely, borderline ugly, with dumpy, flabby bodies? Surely God’s crowning handiwork, created in His own image would have been stunningly beautiful. Any portrayal less than that is an insult to our Creator. The ugliness and dumpiness came AFTER the Fall. Satan’s vandalism.

Artists mirror the general population, the majority of whom are unregenerated and the still-greater majority of whom are not in close fellowship with the Spirit. For me, the fun lies in finding those who are responsive to Him.

I like the vivid scene painted by Lucas Cranach the Elder, painted with great precision. Animals featured prominently in the work of a number of German artists during this period, as well as a number of other members of the North Renaissance.
