The Roman Catholic Diocese of Norwich, Connecticut, is seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy to help pay for more than 60 pending lawsuits over alleged sexual abuse.
The lawsuits stem from former students at the Academy of Mount St. John in Deep River.
Gale Howard is a leader of the Connecticut chapter of Survivors Network of those Abused By Priests, or SNAP. Howard said the bankruptcy limits fair compensation, especially for those who have yet to come forward.

You can talk about making us pay for the sins of those priests and church hierarchy by giving that up to overpay for court fees and criminal defense lawyers or the priests can live by poverty rules and get a public defender. Damages have to be paid as well. Let the hierarchy decide how to pay out of their pockets. Do not take it from the congregations who would never dream of condoning or supporting rapists
The families of those priests can sell off their own real estate. Those priests can go live in workhouses. Make them raise revenue

It hasn’t always been this way. I was an altar boy in the 40’s and 50’s. I still know many others who were also. We joke that if Father so and so or Father you know who had touched us we could be rich today. They DIDN’T!
