Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 65
Psalm 65[a]
For the director of music. A psalm of David. A song.
1 Praise awaits[b] you, our God, in Zion;
to you our vows will be fulfilled.
2 You who answer prayer,
to you all people will come.
3 When we were overwhelmed by sins,
you forgave[c] our transgressions.
4 Blessed are those you choose
and bring near to live in your courts!
We are filled with the good things of your house,
of your holy temple.
5 You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds,
God our Savior,
the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas,
6 who formed the mountains by your power,
having armed yourself with strength,
7 who stilled the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves,
and the turmoil of the nations.
8 The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders;
where morning dawns, where evening fades,
you call forth songs of joy.
9 You care for the land and water it;
you enrich it abundantly.
The streams of God are filled with water
to provide the people with grain,
for so you have ordained it.[d]
10 You drench its furrows and level its ridges;
you soften it with showers and bless its crops.
11 You crown the year with your bounty,
and your carts overflow with abundance.
12 The grasslands of the wilderness overflow;
the hills are clothed with gladness.
13 The meadows are covered with flocks
and the valleys are mantled with grain;
they shout for joy and sing.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The Sound Man at my Church and I were having a conversation about the "Boston Tea Party" a Rock Venue from the late sixties in the South End of Boston. I was a mere senior in High School, but looked older, and my boyfriend loved music as much as I did. What had been a Jewish Synagogue, and later a Black Church, was now a dance-hall that featured some amazing Blues and Rock acts. It was here that I saw Big Mama Thornton, the Allman Brothers, Muddy Waters, Ten Years After, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, and many others. Since John, the Sound man, is around my age, he remembered the venue as well, and managed to find a complete schedule of the performers who played there, which he gave to me after church last week.
Well, I was so overcome with nostalgia reading the schedule, that I made a copy of it and presented it to my neighbor Thaddeus, (five trailers away) who is a passionate aficionado of Classic Blues and Rock. Thaddeus was so delighted that he gave me a Digital Recording Workstation, that had been his friend's, who had just died. Thaddeus knew I would be able to use it, and had given up a whole recording studio worth of stuff to come to MA to take care of Mom(RIP).
Rejoicing, I practically danced down the street with the precious box, when I got a phone call from my sister (11 trailers away) who said that her church had just given her 3 HUGE boxes of Non-Perishable FOOD, and could I help her divide it up and distribute it to the community. So I put the Digital Work Station down and walked over to my sister's house (trailer 26) and we divided up the rice, flour, oatmeal, milk, canned soups and vegetables, pasta, sauce, and other good stuff into separate boxes, and I brought them to Thaddeus and several other elderly residents. Everybody was so happy about it!
So then, this morning, as I was walking Penny, I saw the lady in trailer #1 setting her place up for a YARD SALE. She works at a big Homeless Shelter in Boston and the proceeds of the Yard Sale are going to help. I am going to a church function this morning, but I told her that I would advertise her Yard Sale at the function, which is only a few miles away.
Because of the 15 months of quarantine, the horrible events in our own country, and the escalating war in the Middle East, inflation, gas prices, etc, it is easy to get into a blue funk about the state of things. And yet, in our little corner of the world, in a Trailer Park that the surrounding affluent community wishes didn't exist, there is generosity, community, and joy. It seems that, sometimes the people with the least, give the most.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

Psalm 54
To the leader: with stringed instruments. A Maskil of David, when the Ziphites went and told Saul, ‘David is in hiding among us.
1 Save me, O God, by your name,
and vindicate me by your might.
2 Hear my prayer, O God;
give ear to the words of my mouth.
3 For the insolent have risen against me,
the ruthless seek my life;
they do not set God before them.
Selah
4 But surely, God is my helper;
the Lord is the upholder of* my life.
5 He will repay my enemies for their evil.
In your faithfulness, put an end to them.
6 With a freewill-offering I will sacrifice to you;
I will give thanks to your name, O Lord, for it is good.
7 For he has delivered me from every trouble,
and my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM! And for the Preservation of the Valiant Israeli Nation!
| _ | RAISE waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed.
2 O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.
3 Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away. |
4 Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.
5 By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea:
6 Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; being girded with power:
7 Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.
8 They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.
9 Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it.
10 Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: thou makest it soft with showers: thou blessest the springing thereof.
11 Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness.
12 They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: and the little hills rejoice on every side.
13 The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing.
