Never give people things, especially money. Money comes from working.
As far as transferring assets, you cannot control the future. Loving dutiful son can marry money-grubbing shrew and all bets are off. I’ve seen it too many times.
“really shitty comment Mariner”
It wasn’t a comment.
It was a legitimate question.
Lifting you up in prayers.
Theft by a stranger is bad.
Theft by family is unbelievable.
My beloved and I have one son we trust with our very lives and (unfortunately) one son to whom I wouldn’t trust pulling weeds on my yard let alone darken my doorway.
We have financial paperwork 4-ways-from-Friday in hopes nothing happens via the son we do not trust.
Both boys are from my previous marriages....so different...from each other....
Prayers up. May the LORD recompense you and your beloved husband.
“You’ve been around for 20+ years and haven’t created an about you page.”
****************************************
That follows faulty thinking.
I don’t even recall setting up a ‘About You’ page and I’ve been an excellent babbler (as what my beloved husband would lovingly call me) on this site.
LOL
Not all folks set those pages up. Poop. Even if I set mine up, I’m not sure I would have done it. LOL
Anyone who would do such a thing to their parents is a rabid scumbag that needs to be put down with prejudice...
At best, prayers might gain the scumbag one circle higher in hell...
A Power of Attorney makes a grantee equivalent to a “god”! Tread carefully when assigning a POA to another!
there is not a thing on my page and I’ve been here over 20 actually.....just not great at posting things...
if you are in your right mind, IIRC, you can revoke POA....
working in a hospital though, you see kids fighting over their parents assets to the point where the one with POA will demand that we not let other adutl children in nor talk with their parent by phone...you know what's going on...
Yeah, it was quite a learning experience when I looked into how to safeguard the future of someone with autism. He lacks true common sense but once he learns something, it’s basically programmed forever.
We’re poor so we’ll have to get a little creative.
Prayers up.
Continued prayers for you and your husband in this difficult matter.
He was able to get into my brother in law’s 87 yr old’s mine and life and try to change it. We never knew what he is/was doing until almost too late. I am sure our son was wishing my husband would pass before it became apparent as to what he has done. Now we are charging him with fraud as well as challenging the changed will. We have a good lawyer who is a Christian and a first class lawyer. Estate probating is all he does.
Thank you and all the others for prayers.
Perfect. Thank you for posting that.
don’t even recall setting up a ‘About You’ page ...
———several years here, not as many as some, but my questions for the day are these , “what is an About You page? And how is that different from giving personal info to Facebook? “
I come here to read much, comment occasionally, and post articles nearly never. Some may guess my attributes, but I don’t have a blog, and have no reason to self promote.
Having said that, i give to the FReepathon as often as i can, much like my spouse gives to NPR.
I am praying for you.......................................
You Are our Almighty, forever our source of love and grace.
When hearts are shattered, You are there to offer eternal peace to those who believe.
When families are broken, You are there to offer healing, although it may not come the way we envision.
You have promised never to leave us or forsake us, even if money does escape our storehouses. You Are our source of renewal and righteousness.
Send Your guardian angels and Your Holy Spirit to this grieving mom and dad.
Strengthen them for the questions and answers they will hear and give in all legal proceedings regarding their son's actions, both this specific dispute, and any submerged issues that may have led up to it.
Bring faithful Christians alongside every participant in this interchange to give support and wisdom.
If any of these family members is not saved, or not sure of their Salvation, may they repent and confess both their sins and their faith in God, throwing themselves on the mercy and care of Jesus Christ, so that their prayers may be heard.
Provide the lifelines You would have these elderly parents to have going forward, dear Lord, whether it is legal defense or counsel, financial counsel or blessings, or any other necessity according to Your Will for them.
Bring a spirit of humility and charity to the son, so that he may recognize what You would have him do to honor his parents according to Your Commandments.
Convict the heart of the judge over these matters with wisdom, justice, and acknowlegement of Your ultimate Justice for each of us, dear Lord we pray
In Jesus' name.
Amen.
He took it.
I want to thank you and everyone who is praying for us, our God is a mighty god. The depositions went well. We both were spiritually calm ( that’s the only way I can explain it), answered in exactly the proper way. My husband even got to witness to the lawyers who were questioning us! The lawyer didn’t know how to respond to him. We will wait for the next phase which I think is arbitration.
