Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 45

Psalm 45[a]

For the director of music. To the tune of “Lilies.” Of the Sons of Korah. A maskil.[b] A wedding song.

1 My heart is stirred by a noble theme
    as I recite my verses for the king;
    my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.

2 You are the most excellent of men
    and your lips have been anointed with grace,
    since God has blessed you forever.

3 Gird your sword on your side, you mighty one;
    clothe yourself with splendor and majesty.
4 In your majesty ride forth victoriously
    in the cause of truth, humility and justice;
    let your right hand achieve awesome deeds.
5 Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king’s enemies;
    let the nations fall beneath your feet.
6 Your throne, O God,[c] will last for ever and ever;
    a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness;
    therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
    by anointing you with the oil of joy.
8 All your robes are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia;
    from palaces adorned with ivory
    the music of the strings makes you glad.
9 Daughters of kings are among your honored women;
    at your right hand is the royal bride in gold of Ophir.

10 Listen, daughter, and pay careful attention:
    Forget your people and your father’s house.
11 Let the king be enthralled by your beauty;
    honor him, for he is your lord.
12 The city of Tyre will come with a gift,[d]
    people of wealth will seek your favor.
13 All glorious is the princess within her chamber;
    her gown is interwoven with gold.
14 In embroidered garments she is led to the king;
    her virgin companions follow her—
    those brought to be with her.
15 Led in with joy and gladness,
    they enter the palace of the king.

16 Your sons will take the place of your fathers;
    you will make them princes throughout the land.

17 I will perpetuate your memory through all generations;
    therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Today was so beautiful that, after Posting the Thread, Walking the Dog, and doing two loads of Laundry, I hopped on the Bike and rode down the coast towards Cape Cod. I stopped at a bunch of Yard Sales and Church Thrift Stores. I managed to get 13 Classic Rock Vinyl Records, a bunch of Harley Memorabilia, some awesome T-Shirts, and a Cross for my Wall Collection. I also hobnobbed and schmoozed with many lovely people whose names I don't know, and whom I will probably never meet again. I got as far as the Cape Cod Canal, rode the length of the Canal to Buzzards Bay, and returned home through Cranberry Country, (about 100 miles round trip), just in time to take my sister and hubby out for Mexican Food for her 57th Birthday. When I told the waitress it was my sister's birthday, she brought out a dessert with a candle in it, put a big velvet sombrero (covered in sequins) on my sister's head, and the entire wait staff sang "Happy Birthday", Mexican-Style. After I dropped my sister and her husband off at their house, I hung out with some neighbors around a fire-pit, and talked story.

One would hardly guess that there was a "Pandemic" going on. Except, of course, for the MASKS.

Even if they are not made of cloth or paper, people wear masks all the time. We wear one mask when we are with family, and others when we are in public. Special masks exist for church and school, and another for our places of employment. These masks are not mandated, but we make them ourselves and wear them unconsciously.

The worst masks are the ones we create to hide our own insecurity and self-hatred. We may think, "If people knew the REAL me, they would despise me!" and other awful thoughts like that.

What we don't realize is that the masks are a useless disguise. I always wondered how the Lone Ranger thought that his skimpy little eye-mask concealed his identity, or worse yet, Clark Kent disguised himself with a simple pair of glasses. Lois Lane must have been really dumb not to figure that one out!

There is no mask on Earth that hide my deepest "self" from God. To Him, the "Fortress we build around our hearts" (Sting) is as flimsy as Clark Kent's glasses. He can see right through them!

There is no virus more virulent and deadly as SIN, and no mask can hide it from God.

And so, David's Prayers, being Transparent, sometimes may seem angry with God, sometimes resentful of enemies, sometimes vindictive, but ALWAYS Honest.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
