Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 38
Psalm 38[a]
A psalm of David. A petition.
1 Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger
or discipline me in your wrath.
2 Your arrows have pierced me,
and your hand has come down on me.
3 Because of your wrath there is no health in my body;
there is no soundness in my bones because of my sin.
4 My guilt has overwhelmed me
like a burden too heavy to bear.
5 My wounds fester and are loathsome
because of my sinful folly.
6 I am bowed down and brought very low;
all day long I go about mourning.
7 My back is filled with searing pain;
there is no health in my body.
8 I am feeble and utterly crushed;
I groan in anguish of heart.
9 All my longings lie open before you, Lord;
my sighing is not hidden from you.
10 My heart pounds, my strength fails me;
even the light has gone from my eyes.
11 My friends and companions avoid me because of my wounds;
my neighbors stay far away.
12 Those who want to kill me set their traps,
those who would harm me talk of my ruin;
all day long they scheme and lie.
13 I am like the deaf, who cannot hear,
like the mute, who cannot speak;
14 I have become like one who does not hear,
whose mouth can offer no reply.
15 Lord, I wait for you;
you will answer, Lord my God.
16 For I said, “Do not let them gloat
or exalt themselves over me when my feet slip.”
17 For I am about to fall,
and my pain is ever with me.
18 I confess my iniquity;
I am troubled by my sin.
19 Many have become my enemies without cause[b];
those who hate me without reason are numerous.
20 Those who repay my good with evil
lodge accusations against me,
though I seek only to do what is good.
21 Lord, do not forsake me;
do not be far from me, my God.
22 Come quickly to help me,
my Lord and my Savior.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name!
We Come into Your Glorious Presence With Singing,
And into Your Courts With Praise!
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD;
You Alone Are The Most High,
The Great I AM.
God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,
We Worship You and You Alone,
Creator of All That Is, and Sovereign LORD of All Nature,
Which is Under Your Control at All Times.
How conceited we humans can be,
Thinking that we somehow can control the mighty forces that are Yours and Yours Alone!
What hubris, to think that somehow we are little gods
Who can influence and change the course of climate,
History, or Your Will!
Let All That Has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.
LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.
We Pray For Our Beloved USA
We Ask That Your People Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Often, a crime is bad, but the cover-up is worse. This is not just a 21st-Century Phenomenon. The Story of David and Bathsheba shows us that Crime and Cover-Up have been around for at least 3500 years.
David's biggest crime, at first, was Covetousness. He saw Bathsheba and desired her. Check off Commandment #10.
Then he ordered Bathsheba brought to him and took her for himself. She was married to one of his favorite generals, Uriah. That's called Adultery. Check off Commandment #7.
Bathsheba becomes pregnant, so David calls Uriah back from the front and tries to get him to sleep with his own wife to cover up the sin of Adultery. That's Lying. Check off Commandment #9, the one about bearing False Witness. It's also Stealing, as David STOLE a man's wife. So, while you are at it, check off Commandment #8.
Uriah is such a noble guy that he refuses to enjoy his wife while the rest of his men are still at the Front, so David has to find a new way to cover up his crime. So he sends Uriah on a suicide mission and orders his superiors to stand down and not assist him. That's called Murder. Check off Commandment #6.
That leaves the First Five Commandments, but Jesus said that if you break one, you have broken them all. Certainly this behavior does not honor one's Parents who raised us(Commandment #5), nor does it honor the Almighty God Who made us (Commandment s #1-4). Indeed, this whole chain of sorry events began with #10, which seems the most innocuous. Covetousness got the ball rolling, and now David was in a deep pit of sin.
Today's Psalm is not the pivotal Psalm (Psalm 51) of repentance that David composed after the Bathsheba Affair. It is, however, one of the Penitential Psalms. David's heart cries out to God, recognizing that his sins are like a disease. He trusts completely in God's forgiveness and comfort in times of distress.
Human Nature doesn't change, but neither does God. He is the same Yesterday, Today, and Forever. His grace is Sufficient!

Psalm 101
Of David. A Psalm.
1 I will sing of loyalty and of justice;
to you, O Lord, I will sing.
2 I will study the way that is blameless.
When shall I attain it?
I will walk with integrity of heart
within my house;
3 I will not set before my eyes
anything that is base.
I hate the work of those who fall away;
it shall not cling to me.
4 Perverseness of heart shall be far from me;
I will know nothing of evil.
5 One who secretly slanders a neighbour
I will destroy.
A haughty look and an arrogant heart
I will not tolerate.
6 I will look with favour on the faithful in the land,
so that they may live with me;
whoever walks in the way that is blameless
shall minister to me.
7 No one who practises deceit
shall remain in my house;
no one who utters lies
shall continue in my presence.
8 Morning by morning I will destroy
all the wicked in the land,
cutting off all evildoers
from the city of the Lord.
