Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Lambs, Sheep, and Shepherds

Psalm 4

Psalm 4[a]

For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of David.

1 Answer me when I call to you,
    my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress;
    have mercy on me and hear my prayer.

2 How long will you people turn my glory into shame?
    How long will you love delusions and seek false gods[b]?[c]
3 Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself;
    the Lord hears when I call to him.

4 Tremble and[d] do not sin;
    when you are on your beds,
    search your hearts and be silent.
5 Offer the sacrifices of the righteous
    and trust in the Lord.

6 Many, Lord, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?”
    Let the light of your face shine on us.
7 Fill my heart with joy
    when their grain and new wine abound.

8 In peace I will lie down and sleep,
    for you alone, Lord,
    make me dwell in safety.

Footnotes

1. Psalm 4:1 In Hebrew texts 4:1-8 is numbered 4:2-9.
2. Psalm 4:2 Or seek lies
3. Psalm 4:2 The Hebrew has Selah (a word of uncertain meaning) here and at the end of verse 4.
4. Psalm 4:4 Or In your anger (see Septuagint)

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father,
Who Art In Heaven,
Hallowed Be Thy Name!
How Wonderful You Are, Dear Father!
How Glorious and Mighty!
Yet Your Mercies Endure Forever,
From Everlasting to Everlasting.
How delightful it is To Praise and Worship You,
For You Alone Are Worthy of Our Adoration!

Let All That Has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our Beloved USA
We Ask That Your People Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

There are two prominent Furniture Stores in our general area. Yesterday, my sister and I went to both of them to look for a new couch. Her couch is attacking her family and guests with popping springs...so it's time. The first store has a no-nonsense approach to merchandising. The couches are artfully arranged in little groups, with matching loveseats and easy chairs, coffee and end tables, and lamps. A few pillows and artwork complete the settings, but mostly it's a sea of little living-rooms. The other store has a more grandiose approach, with animatronics, fantasy rides, and whole-room mock-ups. One is like a furniture store, and the other is like an adult theme park. The prices are comparable, and both have delivery, so it's just a matter of finding the right couch at the right price. It took up ALL of Sunday Afternoon, and my sister has still not found the right couch. Oh well...it was fun anyway.

We were not looking for bedding or mattresses, so we did not even venture into that section of either store. And yet, BOTH stores devoted the majority of their square footage to the subject of SLEEP. Gone are the simple signs that merely say "MATTRESS DEPARTMENT". No, now there are futuristic laser-like signs that say things like "SLEEP LABORATORY" or "SLEEP SCIENCE" or some such thing. Walk through those doors, and you will get a full body analysis, indicating sleep positions, pressure points, places where extra support is indicated, etc. People actually stand in front of a machine that sends beams around their bodies and have their stats fed into a computer. Then, presumably, they will get the perfect mattress and never suffer insomnia again.

Today's Psalm tells us that a Good Night's Sleep does not depend of Sleep-Laboratories, Laser Scanners, Computers, or even the Perfect Mattress. It is safe to assume that David, on the run from Saul and later Absalom, did not have a scientifically designed mattress contoured to his particular pressure points. And yet, he was able to get a good night's sleep because he was at Peace with his God. When David closed his eyes at night, he may have been wrapped in a thin cloak under the stars on the hard ground, but, because of his relationship with the Almighty, David was resting in the Secret Place of the Most High, and covered with His Wings.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America!

Psalm 82

A Psalm of Asaph.

1 God has taken his place in the divine council;
in the midst of the gods he holds judgement:
2 ‘How long will you judge unjustly
and show partiality to the wicked?
Selah
3 Give justice to the weak and the orphan;
maintain the right of the lowly and the destitute.
4 Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.’

5 They have neither knowledge nor understanding,
they walk around in darkness;
all the foundations of the earth are shaken.

6 I say, ‘You are gods,
children of the Most High, all of you;
7 nevertheless, you shall die like mortals,
and fall like any prince.’*

8 Rise up, O God, judge the earth;
for all the nations belong to you!

Hah! I was deeply asleep until the smoke detector battery started chirping every forty seconds this morning at 3am. But I am wide awake enough even so to be able to offer my Amen!

Hah! I was deeply asleep...

And I'll bet it was the peace of the LORD, which passes all understanding, that gave you a good night's sleep, rather than a Scientifically-Laser-Accurate-Custom-Designed-Mattress that did it for you! (((HUGS)))

PS...Smoke Detector Chirping at 3AM is of the devil./s. For me, it means a step ladder and a 9-Volt battery to shut the thing up. Sometimes, the only 9-volt battery is in my Bass, and requires a small Phillips screwdriver. So that means, getting the step-ladder, finding the right screwdriver, opening up the back of the bass and removing the battery, climbing the ladder, removing the smoke detector from the ceiling, installing the battery, replacing the battery, making a note to buy a new 9-volt before Sunday Morning, putting away the stepladder the screwdriver, and the bass, all in the dark! If I turn a light on, I’ll never get back to sleep. :-)

I wasn't about to get out of bed to shut it up. After 70 minutes I gave up trying to sleep and posted today's Bible art thread, at 4:11. Makes me wonder if God wanted it posted early today for someone who needed to see it.

THEN I remembered my earplugs, and got another bit of sleep.
