Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Lambs, Sheep, and Shepherds

.

Micah 5:1-5

A Promised Ruler From Bethlehem

5 [a]Marshal your troops now, city of troops,
    for a siege is laid against us.
They will strike Israel’s ruler
    on the cheek with a rod.

2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
    though you are small among the clans[b] of Judah,
out of you will come for me
    one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old,
    from ancient times.”

3 Therefore Israel will be abandoned
    until the time when she who is in labor bears a son,
and the rest of his brothers return
    to join the Israelites.

4 He will stand and shepherd his flock
    in the strength of the Lord,
    in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God.
And they will live securely, for then his greatness
    will reach to the ends of the earth.

5 And he will be our peace
    when the Assyrians invade our land
    and march through our fortresses.
We will raise against them seven shepherds,
    even eight commanders,

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

As I had explained earlier, I have been "syncing up" my own Daily Bible Reading Program with the one designed by my Pastor to "Read the Whole Bible in a Year". It's not a big adjustment, as Pastor Frank has separate daily readings for Law, History, Poetry, Psalms, Prophecy, Gospels, and Epistles, so I can still use my eight bookmarks, and only had to move them around a bit. Remember...this is only the first week of 2021, and I have been doing my "Super-Eight" Program since 9/11/01. Also, we are tuning up a worship team and have our first rehearsal tonight. One of the songs we will be rehearsing, which was chosen over a week ago, is based upon the First Chapter of the Book of Job. (Blessed Be Your Name, by Chris Tomlin)

Now if this seems to be a "bouncy" kind of song, just remember it is based upon a quote from Job when he LOST EVERYTHING and is sitting in a pile of ashes covered in boils.

OK...so I opened my Bible to Today's reading on the new schedule. It was Job 1-2 under the "Poetry" heading. Well you can imagine I was mighty blue this morning due to yesterday's events, and a reading from Job seemed to be "NOT" very hopeful. But there it was.

Before posting my thread, I catch up on my pings, and there was the Bible Art Thread, and guess what Dan chose to illustrate for us? Right. Job 1.

I looked at my own notes for THIS Thread, and Job 1 is coming up the day after tomorrow.

So. Do ya think God is trying to get my attention?

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Amen !!! <><

Psalm 55

To the leader: with stringed instruments. A Maskil of David.

1 Give ear to my prayer, O God;
do not hide yourself from my supplication.
2 Attend to me, and answer me;
I am troubled in my complaint.
I am distraught 3by the noise of the enemy,
because of the clamour of the wicked.
For they bring* trouble upon me,
and in anger they cherish enmity against me.

4 My heart is in anguish within me,
the terrors of death have fallen upon me.
5 Fear and trembling come upon me,
and horror overwhelms me.
6 And I say, ‘O that I had wings like a dove!
I would fly away and be at rest;
7 truly, I would flee far away;
I would lodge in the wilderness;
Selah
8 I would hurry to find a shelter for myself
from the raging wind and tempest.’

9 Confuse, O Lord, confound their speech;
for I see violence and strife in the city.
10 Day and night they go around it
on its walls,
and iniquity and trouble are within it;
11 ruin is in its midst;
oppression and fraud
do not depart from its market-place.

12 It is not enemies who taunt me—
I could bear that;
it is not adversaries who deal insolently with me—
I could hide from them.
13 But it is you, my equal,
my companion, my familiar friend,
14 with whom I kept pleasant company;
we walked in the house of God with the throng.
15 Let death come upon them;
let them go down alive to Sheol;
for evil is in their homes and in their hearts.

16 But I call upon God,
and the Lord will save me.
17 Evening and morning and at noon
I utter my complaint and moan,
and he will hear my voice.
18 He will redeem me unharmed
from the battle that I wage,
for many are arrayed against me.
19 God, who is enthroned from of old,
Selah
will hear, and will humble them—
because they do not change,
and do not fear God.

20 My companion laid hands on a friend
and violated a covenant with me*
21 with speech smoother than butter,
but with a heart set on war;
with words that were softer than oil,
but in fact were drawn swords.

22 Cast your burden* on the Lord,
and he will sustain you;
he will never permit
the righteous to be moved.

23 But you, O God, will cast them down
into the lowest pit;
the bloodthirsty and treacherous
shall not live out half their days.
But I will trust in you.

Was reading Isaiah 54 just now. God is assuring Israel and Jerusalem of His future benevolence and protection:

14 Tyranny will be far from you;
you will have nothing to fear.
Terror will be far removed;
it will not come near you.
15 If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing;
whoever attacks you will surrender to you.

I've never made the connection before, being chronically slow on the uptake, but the Arabs' wars on modern Israel were permitted by God but not caused by Him, unlike when He sent the Babylonians and Assyrians. It's crystal-clear now!

No matter how dire a prophecy is in the Bible, there is always redemption and Restoration afterwards, even if it is just a remnant.

Good Morning LTOS...I too was blue and down over yesterday’s events. I was able to watch live from DC Amir Tsarfati ( from Israel) who was in DC yesterday for the events of the day,and he was so encouraging in God’s Word.

Prayed last night for Israel and America!
