Nanette Miles, who agreed to be named publicly for this article, said then-youth director David Hyles, who was son of then-Pastor Jack Hyles, called her into his office in September 1976 when she was 13. She alleges in the lawsuit she was given a drink and then blacked out.

She claims she woke up on the office floor while being raped by David Hyles.

Following the alleged attack, she was instructed to leave through the back door so she would not be seen by a secretary, the lawsuit claims. David Hyles said he would want to see her again, according the the lawsuit.

She was raped again by David Hyles in his office a week later, and he continued to rape her weekly "unless he was out of town on church business," the lawsuit alleges. The sexual abuse allegedly continued for five years on church and college property.

"Defendants stole something innocent, sensitive and sacred from every minor they abused," according to the lawsuit filed in the Northern District of Illinois by the Dallas, Texas, law firm of Forester Haynie.

No one was immediately available at the church Thursday afternoon for comment.

The college is not accredited, worse than Pensacola.

Horrible if it happened. Zero proof. Just a testimonial of the events. Mega Churches have always seemed a bit too much. Sort of like the giant whale that takes over a person’s life.

4 decades ago? Why did she wait so long to bring charges?

And what is there by way of proof?

There is a reason we have (or had) statutes of limitations.

This is known by the elitist definition as a one-sided game of

CASTING ASPERSIONS

with the aim of the person composing some kind of excuse to manufacture a self-image.

So she waits until she’s 57 years old to file suit? It should be barred by statute of limitations. It’s impossible to defend yourself against allegations that old other than with a denial.

I was no fan of Kavanaugh until Blasey Ford came out with her ridiculous claims from decades ago with zero proof.

Same thing here.

ditto. I fully support women who are molested or raped by men from years ago to come forward, but there has to be a limit - a limit of proof.

After 40 years, there is no discernible proof that can be brought forward. It becomes a smear job.

In Kavanaugh’s case it was so definitely a smear job - if he was a serial molester then there would be other cases brought up from closer in time. Like Crosby.

But no, not a squeak.

This touches on the comment Rush Limbaugh had about the Clarence thomas thing with Anita Hill.

IIRC, Rush was having lunch with some high profile woman in politics and she mentioned that the charges by Hill were all baloney. Rush asked why she believed that, and her response was: Where are the other women? A mature man that does this sort of thing doesn’t do it with just one woman. He would have a string of women that would be more than happy to speak up. Where are they?

The left actually learned from this. Hence all the women making these sorts of claims against Trump before fading away quickly.

But it’s all smear. I think of it like a product guarantee. There comes a time where complaining or returning it does no good. It’s out of warrantee. Same with this. Either file charges or shut up forever, but pick one. Anything else just makes you look stupid.

Yet Hammond does have a history. Jack Schaap, a former pastor, is doing federal time for transporting an underage girl over state lines for sex. The leadership at that church operates with little or no accountability.

First Baptist Church of Hammond,

Wikipedia (that font of wisdom) on that church tells me it's independent fundamental baptist.

Stuff I've heard tells me abuse like that is not uncommon in IFB circles, and seldom dealt with effectively.

In fact, take a look at the "controversies" subsection of that article. Lot of that going on over the years, in that church.

I think a key to that is the "I" - Independent. They are autonomous, operating on their own with no oversight from a denomination.
