Churches Could Soon Face Prosecution Over LGBT Treatment, Says Steve Chalke [UK]

Former evangelical Steve Chalke has claimed that churches could soon face prosecution over their treatment of LGBT people.

He tweeted over the weekend: "When I began to welcome LGBT people into my church, the Evangelicals threw the charity I founded out of their alliance.

"But I believe what amounts to the abuse of LGBT people by churches is likely to soon see a crop of high-profile prosecutions."

His tweet was in reference to the Evangelical Alliance, which in 2014 discontinued membership of the Oasis Trust, the charity founded by Chalke, after he came out in support of same-sex relationships.

Since announcing his change of view on sexuality, Chalke has become an outspoken advocate for LGBT people.

Chalke made his latest comments ahead of a conference he was hosting on Saturday about creating "safe" churches for LGBT people.

The conference was endorsed by Sir Elton John, who said: "The failure of many churches to welcome, accept and include LGBTQ+ people creates stigma, loneliness, fear and denial, causing lasting damage to their wellbeing and mental health."

Well when they say “safe”, they don’t just mean “welcome” - but that the church must change its theology by force of law and refuse to be obedient to scripture.

I was shocked to see the Evangelical Southern Baptist Church of my youth now advertising “Safe Space” as a draw on their website. The implication is that homosexuality is not overtly accepted, but that people who experience same-sex attraction can openly seek help in that group.

I wonder how long that will last. The language used was so uncomfortably ambiguous that I had to discount it outright.

Expect a heavily edited Bible version to go along with the new rules.

I know you are being sarcastic, because the Muslims are off bounds in the U.k. as I’m sure you know. Only Christians will meet the wrath of prosecutions.

“Persecution of churches, not prosecution”

As long as Christians keep turning their seemingly endless supply of other cheeks the left is more than happy to slap them.

Whatever happened to the Christian warrior?

“I suggest they start at the mosques. that should keep them busy.”

Not likely. Terrorism works!

Though Christians SHOULD be kind and loving towards all, it is far from being loving to ignore or condone what Almighty God clearly and repeatedly calls an abomination to Him. There's a reason why homosexual people feel stigma, shame and estrangement from God - they know in their hearts that such behavior is intrinsically sinful. No amount of non-judgmental acceptance from other Christians can erase that and believers aren't doing them any favors by pretending the lifestyle can be edifying and enlightening for everyone. God cannot bless what He condemns. The same goes for ALL sexual sin - not just homosexual.

Both when the law is involved and it will be involved.
