{Australian} ANGLICANS HAVE A TRANSGENDER PRIEST DILEMMA {Male transitioned to female pastor marries a woman, asks to remain a priestess}

Last week, Sorel Coward finally confronted her Archbishop.

In a strange coincidence, Geoffrey Smith – who is Archbishop of Adelaide – was the bishop who ordained Coward as a priest (minister) years ago.

Sorel Coward is a transgender woman, who wants Smith’s permission to act as a priest in Adelaide. Anglican ministers need the permission of their bishop or regional leader to preach, or hold holy communion. This often is called a PTO, or “permission to officiate”.

Archbishop Smith has responded to Coward by refusing to give her a PTO.

....Coward wishes her situation did not get mixed up with the same-sex marriage debate. “The problem for [Smith] is that no one ever anticipated the fact that they would end up being a transgender priest in valid Holy orders, and sacramentally married” she tells Eternity, using the language of an Anglo-Catholic and alluding to her marriage with Jane.

...Explaining to Eternity why she does not want her situation to be part of a same-sex marriage debate, Coward says: “What the church now has is a [priest] in Holy Orders, who is also sacramentally married, with the contradiction being that there are two females involved now – but they are not homosexual.”

Anyone who walks into that Church and expects to find spiritual fullfillment and moral guidance is a sick fool.

Women’s colleges, long hotbeds for lesbianism, faced this 20 years ago.

Just try processing this wikipedia summary of Smith College’s journey:

“Smith offers “panel discussions and seminars for lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students on subjects such as coming out as transgender at work.”[44] In 2003, Smith students voted to remove pronouns from the language of the Student Government Association constitution, in order to make that document inclusive of transgender students who don’t identify with the pronouns “she” and “her.”[45]

Until 2013, transgender women were not allowed to attend Smith unless all their legal documentation consistently stated they were female. This policy came to public attention in March 2013 when Smith rejected the application of a trans woman named Calliope Wong. In the rejection letter, Smith’s Dean of Admission Debra Shaver wrote “Your FAFSA indicates your gender as male. Therefore, Smith cannot process your application.” This policy was changed in 2013 to only require all non legal application materials to indicate a female identity, including references. Not satisfied with the change, students as well as various alumni formed the group Q&A (”Queers and Allies”) to advocate for more trans-inclusive policies.[46] Q&A subsequently protested the policy on Facebook and other social media websites, as well as staging protests on campus that garnered significant media attention.[47] In 2014, Smith formed an Admissions Policy Study Group, co-chaired by Daphne Lamothe and Audrey Smith, who at the time were associate professor of Afro-American studies and vice president for enrollment, respectively.[48] The group recommended that to be considered for admission to Smith, applicants live and/or identify as a woman, check the “female” box when applying, and that the President establish a working group to support all trans and non-binary students at Smith.[49] These recommendations went to the faculty[49] and the Board of Trustees[50] and in 2015, Smith announced a new policy that only required female identification on the common application.[51] Under the policy, transgender men and non-binary or genderqueer applicants are not eligible for admission.[52] This new policy also affirms that any student who, once admitted, transitions to another identity other than “female” and, who completes the college’s graduation requirements, will be awarded a Smith degree.[53] The Resource Center for Sexuality and Gender; The Office for Equity and Inclusion and its Trans/Non-binary Working Group; Transcending Gender, a student group focused on support and education; and the Transgender Support Group run by Counseling Services work to support trans and non-binary students at Smith across the gender identity spectrum.”

If you don’t want to be a priest more than you want to chop off your penis and pretend to be a woman, then you never actually had a calling to the ministry in the first place.

In the Levitical priesthood, a man with mutilated genitals was automatically disqualified.

It is terrible to have Shepherds who cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.
Matthew 23:33 comes to mind...

This is what happens when you walk away from Torah: eventually you will sink into idolatry and end up 180 degrees opposite of its plain teaching.

By denying this is a mental illness, they lose the ability to remove the cleric due to mental illness.

That is actually VERY common.

75-85% of “transgenders” are mentally ill men. Seventy percent plus keep the plumbing. That’s why their demands to use women’s facilities is such a violation of women’s rights - it is dudes in dresses demanding to use the showers, changing rooms and other facilities segregated for women’s safety.

And most of them ARE heterosexual. Hence the literal hatred of trans-exclusionary feminists. These guys identify as women and typically do so as lesbian ... so they’re abusing and denigrating lesbians who won’t have sex with a dude who says he’s a lady. It is called “The cotton ceiling”. Never mind how oppressive it is for a dude in a dress to bully a woman who is attracted to real women.
