Food for thought from The Word of God.

Interesting verse amid the current setting. Let the reader understand. Godspeed.

Psalm 91

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day,

nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.

A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you make the Most High your dwelling— even the LORD, who is my refuge—

then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;

they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

“Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

Given that we’ve elected public officials who sanction abortion, this affliction is but a slap on the wrist.

The entire chapter of Isaiah 26 pertains to righteous living and GOD’s chastisement of the wicked...

A Song of Praise to the Lord
26 In that day, everyone in the land of Judah will sing this song:
Our city is strong!
We are surrounded by the walls of God’s salvation.
2
Open the gates to all who are righteous;
allow the faithful to enter.
3
You will keep in perfect peace
all who trust in you,
all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
4
Trust in the Lord always,
for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.
5
He humbles the proud
and brings down the arrogant city.
He brings it down to the dust.
6
The poor and oppressed trample it underfoot,
and the needy walk all over it.
7
But for those who are righteous,
the way is not steep and rough.
You are a God who does what is right,
and you smooth out the path ahead of them.
8
Lord, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws;
our heart’s desire is to glorify your name.
9
In the night I search for you;
in the morning[a] I earnestly seek you.
For only when you come to judge the earth
will people learn what is right.
10
Your kindness to the wicked
does not make them do good.
Although others do right, the wicked keep doing wrong
and take no notice of the Lord’s majesty.
11
O Lord, they pay no attention to your upraised fist.
Show them your eagerness to defend your people.
Then they will be ashamed.
Let your fire consume your enemies.
12
Lord, you will grant us peace;
all we have accomplished is really from you.
13
O Lord our God, others have ruled us,
but you alone are the one we worship.
14
Those we served before are dead and gone.
Their departed spirits will never return!
You attacked them and destroyed them,
and they are long forgotten.
15
O Lord, you have made our nation great;
yes, you have made us great.
You have extended our borders,
and we give you the glory!
16
Lord, in distress we searched for you.
We prayed beneath the burden of your discipline.
17
Just as a pregnant woman
writhes and cries out in pain as she gives birth,
so were we in your presence, Lord.
18
We, too, writhe in agony,
but nothing comes of our suffering.
We have not given salvation to the earth,
nor brought life into the world.
19
But those who die in the Lord will live;
their bodies will rise again!
Those who sleep in the earth
will rise up and sing for joy!
For your life-giving light will fall like dew
on your people in the place of the dead!
20
Go home, my people,
and lock your doors!
Hide yourselves for a little while
until the Lord’s anger has passed.
21
Look! The Lord is coming from heaven
to punish the people of the earth for their sins.
The earth will no longer hide those who have been killed.
They will be brought out for all to se

I have heard people argue this is not God’s wrath, as God promised he would never again wreak severe punishment upon man. I point out this is not quite accurate.
God promised after The Great Flood HE would never again punish all mankind. HE never promised HE would never again wreak HIS wrath upon some segment of mankind.
I’m not saying this or any other viral outbreak is HIS wrath. Just that the argument that HE promised HE would never again wreak wrath upon mankind isn’t accurate.
However, in the Ancient Past HIS punishments were Always forewarned well in advance through HIS Prophets.
And, those Prophets would foretell accurately many signs which turned out to be totally accurate as both warnings and proof of their divine origin for us to change our ways before it’s too late.
Accurate Prophesies and Preliminary warnings with their subsequent occurrences have not been witnesses for many thousands of years.
This leads to the common belief that since the birth, life and resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Lord God giving HIM Purview over Creation that those ancient corrections by the Lord God are over. Food for thought.

Count me in. Psalm 91, a Psalm of Protection.

Reminds me of Deutoronomy 7:15:
“And the LORD will take away from you all sickness, and will afflict you with none of the terrible diseases of Egypt which you have known, but will lay them on all those who hate you.”

I see your point. I am not a theologan and would not say we are living through God’s Wrath either. God does not punish in increments. When God rises to wrath, the consequences are grave and final.

There are consequences to man’s proceeding. I think whether unintended or not, the consequences are and will reach many. Even the innocent unfortunately.

I do believe it is a wake up call however. Interesting that what we thought so important three weeks ago, is no longer so.

The earth will disclose the blood shed on it; the earth will conceal its slain no longer.

Who are the slain in our time? Could it be the millions upon millions slain in the womb? Has the Almighty finally had enough of our evil atrocity?

I would say God has been way Gracious too long. He is slow to anger, but we have good cause to believe, since we started this year—2020, that His Cup of Wrath is now brimming.

“I am not a theologan”

Neither am I FRiend. Not even close. Just a plain old average ordinary guy who happens to be a God Fearing Christian. And, as the Old Testament states, “Wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord”.

That's how I see it. This corona thing is just the beginning.

Keep your eyes on the USSC's decision on the Louisiana case. Even delaying its decision had consequences for the nation, IMO.

It is not God’s way to punish us, but perhaps He lifts His protection from us when we are in wickedness.

We should always pray for the Lord’s protection, or that we are called quickly to His kingdom and not prolong our suffering here, except for His sake.
