If the only evidence for the flood that we had was what is said in the bible, there is evidence to support both a global or local event.

Whichever one I choose to believe will not damage my relationship with my Creator nor with my fellow man. And those are the only two things that matter in this life.

Ham was on the Ark. That’s right the author was THERE so he knows what he’s talking about.

At one time, the Black Sea was at a level much below the Mediterranean Sea, and was not joined. The population group to which Noah belonged lived on the now drowned shores of that inland sea, and when earth tremors sent out great panic among those people, Noah was among the few who accurately guessed a great calamity was about to fall. His ark was built to survive this great inundation as the wall between the Mediterranean and the valley in which the Black Sea was located was sundered and the Bosporus Strait was opened. The waters poured from the Mediterranean into the Black Sea basin, causing a great upwelling of the sea level, and completely destroying every settlement that was around the former shores of the Black Sea. It would have appeared to be the “end of the world” for those in the locality.

Hugh Ross never learned what I learned in grade school:

Water will seek it’s own level.

IF it rained for 150 days & the flood was that bad in the Middle East, the water would have sought to go elsewhere.

I say it was GLOBAL.

i don’t even need the Bible to believe in the global flood. all i have to do is look at the ocean out my window and then look at a swimming pool.

or since 1969, I can just look at a picture of the earth taken from the moon.

it’s really a no brainer.

And Native Americans talks about their version of the flood. If Noah took all land animals onto the ark, he must have known about the Americas!

I have wondered if the Great Flood was a result of a major meteor strike on Mars. They say Mars use to have water. Also they say it was hit by a major meter. So if during the collision the water was ejected into space could it have orbited til it reached Earth? Causing the Great Flood. Just a thought.

My wife is directly descended from a Native American people. One of their well known legends depicts the flood and the destruction of a sinful people. Following that, a white prophet arrived and taught them the basis of morality and laws. The very same prophet announced he would return in a second coming in the far future. The accounts draw a direct similarity to the biblical histories in Genesis.

My wife is an unshakable Christian.

And quite the hottie.

Oh dear. Young-earther / global flooders again.

How do any of you know the flood was not "global"? I was certainly universal-- all humans except 8 died. Why does it have to be "global"? Genesis does not say anything like that.

Once you begin to take texts in isolation then you may find your conclusions were presumptuous.

Since Scripture describes only universal wickedness, and this universal judgment, then restricting all this to a local event in unwarranted.

And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth ; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. (Genesis 6:5-7)

And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven ; and every thing that is in the earth shall die. (Genesis 6:17)

And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man: (Genesis 7:21)

And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; (2 Peter 2:5)

For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished : (2 Peter 3:5-6)

Dr. Hugh Ross's actual argument: Does the Bible Say Noah’s Flood Was Global or Universal?

Video version: The Flood of Noah, Local or Global?

From his Facebook page:

"Many Christians think I believe Noah’s flood was universal but not global because of the scientific evidence. Some even think I put science above Scripture. In truth, I am convinced based on the Bible itself that Noah’s flood cannot possibly be global in extent. I explain why in much detail in six chapters of my book, Improbable Planet."

If that’s what Ken Hamm thinks, then that’s the way it was.
