Bishop Schneider Condemns Pachamama

.... 1. “You shall have no other gods before Me,” says the Lord God, as the first of the commandments (Ex 20:3). Delivered originally to Moses and the Hebrew people, this command remains valid for all people and all times, as God tells us: “You shall not carve idols for yourselves in the shape of anything in the sky above or on the earth below or in the waters beneath the earth; you shall not bow down before them or worship them” (Ex 20:4-5). ....

The following words of the Second Council of Nicaea are fully applicable to all churchmen, who supported the above mentioned syncretistic religious acts in Rome: “Many pastors have destroyed my vine, they have defiled my portion. For they followed unholy men and trusting to their own frenzies they calumniated the holy Church, which Christ our God has espoused to himself, and they failed to distinguish the holy from the profane, asserting that the icons of our Lord and of his saints were no different from the wooden images of satanic idols.”

Yesterday I was listening to Relevant Radio (full disclosure: I’m an LCMS music director), and the commentators seemed caught between a idolatrous rock and an ecclesiastical hard place. They were clearly opposed to the pagan idols being in any way associated with the synod, but they couldn’t bring themselves to criticize Pope Francis for allowing it, and not stopping it. Seems to me that the Vatican needs another Wittenberg.

Images, idols, crosses, golden cups, fancy outfits . . .
Have NOTHING to do with one’s relationship to G-d.

Get your minds right folks.

Dump the multi-million dollar palaces, the golden goblets, the over paid and powdered, over protected, over indulged psuedo-leaders.

Talk to G-d. He is there, at every minute to hear you. Tell your family and neighbors about YOUR faith.

If we’re lucky, we get 100 years.
Then we are JUDGED by the only one that counts.

“We’re all dying. Act accordingly.”

Pope Frank and these statues are a symptom, not a cause.

The moment the word of men became anything but completely subservient to the Word of God, the heresy was planted.

But but but Catholics are not taught to bow down at the Idols statues of Mary and offer up prayers for her intervention ... are they? /sarc

It will be interesting to read how the usual apologists parse the 'difference' between statues of pachamama and MAry in the 'Churches'. I'll ping Mrs Don-o, she's always on this stuff.

You might actually pay attention to what Mrs. Don-O is writing instead of lining up the usual threadbare arguments.

Oh I pay close attention to what she writes. Once in a great while she writes something that is actually supported by rightly dividing scripture; sadly such is usually her quoting someone else whom she tends to misunderstand in such a way that it supports some tradition of her religion..

"Seems to me that the Vatican needs another Wittenberg."

Just think how much better things would have gone if Martin Luther hadn't bailed out, but had remained and fought.

What’s to “parse”? I don’t find Pachamama in the Gospels, do you? Mary, on the other hand, definitely shows up.

I heard someone on ewtn say. It was a crime against man to take the status out of the church but it was a crime against God to put it in there.

To this day, the Roman church has not changed.

Rome did not want to discuss his issues - only have him repent of them... then they sought to kill him.

He was forced to leave, but God used it to restore the Gospel.

And Luther got a great wife out of the circumstances too.

That is a fairly lame argument to use in bowing down to a statue.

Luther didn’t ‘bail out,’ they excommunicated him and tried to execute him.

Don’t blame Luther for what Catholicism did.

LOL ... Catholic, when your eternal destiny is hanging from a sacramental fealty string, watch that ‘threadbare’ accusation.
