There’s nothing to explain. Jesus was celibate. Either imitating Christ’s lifestyle by freely-chosen celibacy is DIAMETRICALLY OPPOSED TO SCRIPTURE or it isn’t.

If someone wants to FREELY CHOOSE celibacy, that's their call.

However, Catholic priests do not have that option.

They are either to take the vow of celibacy or not become priests.

The do not have the FREE CHOICE to be a Catholic priest and be married.
