The Lords Prayer: What Does Lead Us Not Into Temptation Mean?

Why don’t they just change the whole darned Bible ... just rewrite it anyway they like, that’s what they are doing daily, trashing Christianity from INSIDE! .... gheesh!!!
The pope is not acting out of an expert knowledge of Greek and Latin. He has none. The pope should stick to kissing m*slims on the lips and not mess with the body of knowledge handed down through the years that he knows nothing about.
The Greek means essentially: “Do not lead us into the trial” with trial meaning test (as in put to the test), temptation, ordeal.
BTW, “deliver us from evil” means “deliver us from the evil ONE,” just as much as it means “deliver us from evil.” The Greek can mean either one.
In the Lord’s prayer, Jesus meant what he said, and said what he meant. The best way to address a difficult saying or teaching is not to dumb it down so much that it changes the meaning, but to roll up your sleeves and get to the business of understanding the teaching as it was given.
