Sin is simply missing the mark.
Our proper aiming point is God’s Plan for us.
It begins with remaining in fellowship with HIm in all things through faith in Christ and what He provided on the Cross.
The JUDGMENT of sin, ,,all sin, past, present and future had already happened. It happened at the Cross.
FORGIVENESS is a separate matter.
We stand condemned since the fall in the Garden.
Our only salvation is through faith in what Christ provided at the Cross. Only He is able to provide satiation in propitiation of our sins to God the Father as the Perfect Sacrifice, by His Plan.
We we face God and confess our sins, not by our work towards Him, but through faith in what Christ provided at the Cross, are we then in a position where our sins might be forgiven us by His Perfect Justice, because they have already been judged in Him.
