Mary Breen(Sexton), a good friend of my mother’s, when I was a child would always say regarding St. Joseph
“Aye Ruthee, he’s the better man, he’s the better man”
and so I have always had a special devotion to St. Joseph, he has been a guiding light in my life as I became a husband and father myself.
Eternal rest grant unto Mary O Lord
and may perpetual light shine upon her,
may her soul and all the souls
of the faithfully departed
through the Mercy of God
Rest in Peace.

I thought Joseph died when Jesus was still growing up, not when Jesus was 30.

It's wonderful to ask Jesus or the Holy Spirit to communicate a message to St Joseph...but communication with the dead is an unclean act.
Joseph may be a saint, but he is a human being.
A dead one at that.
Go through Jesus or the Holy Spirit.

It might be good to entitle this a “Catholic Caucus” item.

Do you ever ask someone to pray for you? If so, how is this different?

Thank you so much for asking.
I love for people to pray for me. But prayers need to be directed to Jesus/Yeshuah...not to some dead person.
Jesus hears our prayers...He is the Object of our prayers.
No one stands between you and Jesus.
He is your Lord, your Savior.
Your Father. Your Daddy.
He wants to hear from you directly. His connection with you is direct.
It's you and Jesus.

Yep.
Prayer to Him...not prayer to idols.

Becaus the people we ask are still alive?

St Joseph and all your deceased relatives are still alive too. Just in a different state and place.

Prayer to St Joseph is for intercession. To join us in prayer to God/Jesus/Holy Spirit.

A prayer thread is automatically supposed to be a caucus item. I’ve reported the perp by hitting the abuse button.

I’ve hit the abuse button on all three of you. Maybe you’re unaware that a prayer thread is automatically a caucus thread and arguments are not allowed.
