That’s neat.
Someday I may get to Rome.
MY Dad was an usher for 20 years at the National Shrine In Washington DC. That has a number of small areas where Mass is said.
I asked our retired pastor and he never said a Mass in Latin and seemed to have little interest. It is a shame if we lose it, as it was very solemn and holy.
I bet you could tell a lot of interesting stories about Rome and the church.
I left there about 40 years ago, so a lot of my stories are beginning to fade. My kids went to International schools: the boys to Notre Dame Intl. and my daughter went to Marymount Intl. Hope you get to Rome someday, pal.
Spot On! and I believe we are now at a point that the Humbling is near.
Thanks!
The truth is the leaders are no longer sacrificial Shepherds guarding their flock, admonishing against sins of the flesh and the culture of comforts and pleasure, intellectual satisfaction, but are instead envious of and rushing toward protestantism, killing Catholic identity, believing Catholic chant is out in the West and rock music is in, followed by feel good mutterings and dead sacraments, replaced with puffy little crackers stored in the church kitchen cupboard, or closet.
Few could tell much difference between the modern Mass and any protestant gathering, today.
That was never true prior to Vatican II. Afterwards, the nefarious emptying of ancient Church doctrine as well as Catholic identity was out for all to see and boldly in the open.
God be with you.
If I must suffer the open desecration of the vandalized Traditional Holy Mass, perhaps if I suffer well, in the pain of it, now celebrated away from the East, away from God, toward the snowflake people who must be pleased, perhaps such misery offered up will help me toward Heaven. Love to you dearest brother.
I converted over 2 decades after that critical year but I converted out of books before I went to see a priest. The new church was a bit of a shock but I recovered and entered. When I am somewhere that there is an Eastern Rite parish I go to mass there. It doesn’t change with the whims of certain bishops and renegade popes there.
Pope Francis will have to go away before that and will have to be replaced by an actual Catholic.
It takes time for the sun to rise. I don’t quite see why we got this Pope. But I’m sure the God can handle it.
And while our mission is demanding and clear, yet nos omnes in manibus Dei sumus. We have a great captain.
I’ve lived most of my life in a Vatican II world. Guess at this point I’ve just learned to live with it. Love back at you, Rita.
