The president of the upcoming papal event in Philadelphia backed political candidates who support homosexual marriage and abortion, including a former Planned Parenthood director, a new report says.
World Meeting of Families President Robert Ciaruffoli gave thousands of dollars to several pro-abortion and pro-homosexual candidates over the last 16 years, according to the Lepanto Institute, one that founded a Philadelphia Planned Parenthood facility and opposed restriction of interstate transportation of minors for abortion.
While Ciaruffoli did contribute to a number of candidates who uphold life and marriage, the report says, his record of support for those promoting abortion and homosexuality is extensive and concerning, given his leadership role with the next months international gathering celebrating the Catholic understanding of the family.
Regardless of the pro-life candidates he has supported, Lepanto Institute President Michael Hichborn told LifeSiteNews, its hard to imagine any justification for funding political candidates so opposed to the protection of preborn children and so firmly entrenched in their support for the moral abomination of homosexuality.
The Archdiocese of Philadelphia will host the World Meeting of Families, which will have a family congress September 22-25 and a visit from Pope Francis September 26-27. The international triennial event was established in 1992 by the late Pope Saint John Paul II to strengthen the sacred bonds of the family.
This Pope keeps getting worse and worse.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaand...............
.....Our churches (ALL OF THEM) spiral slowly but surely down the drain.
When Pope John Paul visited the US way back when, the Vatican sent a liaison who was described as being “one of the most profane people ever”.
Pope Innocent X turned over church control of the brothels in Rome to his brother’s wife who was also rumored to be his mistress.
So nothing really surprises me when it comes to churches, no matter their denomination.
I know you are an anti-Catholic, OK?
Don’t burn me, bro.
This is about World Meeting of Families President Robert Ciaruffoli. He wan not appointed by the Pope.
Did the Pope appoint him president of the World Meeting of Families?
Chaput, as head and host of this year's Meeting of Families, is the one who appointed Ciaruffoli. Chaput is solidly pro-life and pro marriage as defined by Divine and Natural Law. Ciaruffoli has staunchly kept the contraception, abortion, and gay advocacy groups out of the conference. For this I applaud him.
He apparently made political contributions in the past to some extremely morally reprehensible political figures; he also made campaign donations to pro-life candidates, such as Curt Weldon, Michael Fitzpatrick, and Pat Toomey. I can't sort out, untangle, interpret or justify all that. I do think he's doing the right things as World Meeting of Families president.
Okay, that sounds better. Before I read your answer, I was really worried about the Meeting of Families (the title is all I know about it, so far).
