The new norm is based on the dispositions of the person gaining the indulgence and the character of the indulgenced work that person performs.

What actually happened was that the Church granted indulgences to those who gave alms to a charitable fund or foundation.[56] There has never been any direct sale of indulgences; nonetheless, the Council of Trent took steps to remove these appearances.”
This is the equivalent of those Christian radio programs that offer a free book for a “donation” of $20. They will absolutely deny they are “selling” books. ;-)

The Communion of Saints, follows from the fact that each of us has an immortal soul. We don't just die and have our souls lie dormant in some spiritual comma while our bodies decay. Men of Good will are a family under God our Father. We pray for the salvation of our brethren on earth, the Church Militant (fighting the good fight, running the race) and offer our sufferings and works to God to make up what is lacking in the sufferings of Jesus. The Church Suffering in Purgatory benefits from those same prayers and sacrifices, and in turn, offers prayers for us on earth. We do not sell indulgences. The Church Triumphant are the angels and saints on Heaven who behold God Face to face as the prayers of the saints reach the Throne of God.
A complete indulgence remits all one's punishment for the remission of sins; a partial indulgence is just that. Since God is eternal and we aren't, days or years are used as measure, and one must be properly dispose to gain the indulgences- as God is eternal, He has the final word on all things.
Won’t help. No Maccabees, no doctrine; alms to the poor are good; Masses have value beyond our comprehension. Indulgences are no longer sold. Welcome to the 21st century. Unless you want to Google Henry Tudor, or the persecution of Catholics by the Puritans on the land they colonized for “Religious Freedom”.

He figured the Jews would take his side, and when they didn't, he suddenly came up with a systematic, anti-Semitic set of steps to get the Jews out of his way. Sound like someone in fairly recent history? Think about that next time the Spanish Inquisition gets dusted off.

No - I’m betting you have deep convictions from scripture that this is true and can point to at least one clear verse that teaches this. Which verse speaks the clearest to you?

I just want to know which particular passage of Scripture stands out to you as the clearest teaching about indulgences?
Do you not have any passage that you base your belief upon? Knowing you the little I do, I was sure you had thought this through.

Luther stated "That heretics be burned is against the will of the Spirit."
Pope Leo X disagreed in a Papal Bull and thought burning heretics was a great idea.
So do you support burning heretics, do you think burning heretics is something trivial, or do you agree with Luther.
I thought we could all agree that burning heretics is a bad idea, but you can still find Catholics today that share Pope Leo X's opinion.
