12 Claims Every Catholic Should Be Able to Answer; Claim 2
CERC ^ | Deal Hudson

Freedom of speech is a great thing. Unfortunately, it comes at an unavoidable price: When citizens are free to say what they want, theyll sometimes use that freedom to say some pretty silly things. And thats the case with the 12 claims were about to cover.

petersaint.jpg

Some of them are made over and over, others are rare. Either way, while the proponents of these errors are free to promote them, we as Catholics have a duty to respond.

2.  "Christianity is no better than any other faith. All religions lead to God."

If you haven't heard this one a dozen times, you don't get out much. Sadly enough, the person making this claim is often himself a Christian (at least, in name).

The problems with this view are pretty straightforward. Christianity makes a series of claims about God and man: That Jesus of Nazareth was God Himself, and that he died and was resurrected — all so that we might be free from our sins. Every other religion in the world denies each of these points. So, if Christianity is correct, then it speaks a vital truth to the world — a truth that all other religions reject.

This alone makes Christianity unique.

But it doesn't end there. Recall Jesus' statement in John's Gospel:

"I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me." In Christianity, we have God's full revelation to humanity. It's true that all religions contain some measure of truth — the amount varying with the religion. Nevertheless, if we earnestly want to follow and worship God, shouldn't we do it in the way He prescribed?

If Jesus is indeed God, then only Christianity contains the fullness of this truth.

What was unscriptural about the original post?

This is part 2 of a 12 part article, posted as one article,, but being presented in 12 installments here on FR. It is just more Spam from the cult. In it's entirety, it represents Roman Catholic ideas which are in contrast to Scripture, and entirely based on their extra-Biblical "traditions". Though parts of it such as this one seem innocuous, in sum they are like rat poison... 90% food, 10% poison that kills every time.

Like the Mormon cult, they claim Jesus as part of their credo, but they elevate Mary to co-Redemptrix status. They also teach that Muslims worship the same god as Christians and though this article leads one to believe otherwise, they allow for the fact that all who worship that god will be together in the end. I agree with that part.

Lumen Gentium (1964):

This documents affirmed that “the plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Moslems: these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day”.

There isn't a word in the above article that this LCMS Lutheran finds unscriptural, and that would be true of my Reformed, Baptist, Word of Faith, and (orthodox) Methodist friends as well.

This is a religion thread. It is for discussion not blanket condemnation. There are news threads out there to post on and condemn.

A single thread would be too long and cover far too many topics. Instead, I broke it down into the 12 parts.

This is a religion thread. It is for discussion not blanket condemnation.

Discussion is not proselytizing. This is proselytizing. It is posted as something it is not. My goal is to not let it stand unchallenged. I am a Christian, and I do not agree with roman Catholic dogma which perverts and/or ignores Scripture.

Maybe you should read more about the religion forum.

pros·e·ly·tize verb \ˈprä-s(ə-)lə-ˌtīz\
: to try to persuade people to join a religion, cause, or group

****

From Religion Moderators profile page:

Open threads are in a town square format.

Antagonism though not encouraged, should be expected Posters may argue for or against beliefs, deities, religious authorities, etc. They may tear down other’s beliefs. They may ridicule. “Open” RF debate is often contentious.

It requires thick skin. A poster must be able to make his points while standing his ground, suffering adverse remarks about his beliefs - or letting them roll off his back.

Members of religions which are as much culture as belief sometimes take religious debate personally. If you keep getting your feelings hurt because other posters ridicule or disapprove or hate what you hold dear, then you are too thin-skinned to be involved in “open” RF debate. You should IGNORE “open” RF threads altogether and instead post to RF threads labeled “prayer” “devotional” “caucus” or “ecumenical.”

Yes it does. If you want to discuss it would be helpful to know where you are coming from. We are Catholic Christians. What are you? That should be an easy question for you to answer. What kind of church do you go to? If you are unwilling to tell us, maybe this not the discussion you should be on. There are plenty of protestant threads and articles for you to peruse.

This is not proselytizing. It is educational for Catholics. If you don’t like the thread, you can leave at any time.

Catholics evangelize. They don’t proselytize.

The Catholic obsession with “group identity” is a straw man. It’s an attempt to tag all those within it to the beliefs of the group. I would simply ask you this question. Do you believe that you serve the same god as the Muslims? Or do you identify with the beliefs of Pelosi, Kennedy, or Biden who are all Catholics? If you don’t want to be tagged with any of those beliefs stop using the “group identity” meme.

I would say at least most of them do, most of them may also contain things that are not true.

Jesus said so much about the religious leaders of his day that I have to believe he was not only setting us free from sin or the punishment in hell for it, depending on the correct view.

But also setting us free from religion.

I believe that Kenndey is no longer on this planet, so stop bringing him up. Secondly I have never spoken to Mrs. Pelosi or Mr. Biden. I would guess that they have the same core beliefs that I have. I see that they have a disordered view of reason. I believe them when they state that they are personally opposed to abortion but support it on the disordered belief that they should not force their belief on others. They have developed that because Non-Catholics have demanded that we not be public servants and Catholics. Try reading a history book as it pertains to John F. Kennedy and the pledge he had to made in order to be deemed acceptable by the Protestant elites in this country.

Now I am personally sick of your intrusion into every freaking thread that has the word Catholic in it. On the other hand it gives me an opportunity to feel superior.

Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi may not have the same understanding of reason as they should. But I have no doubt that they believe in the real presence of Jesus Chirst, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity just as I do. I believe that in their hearts they believe that they are doing what they are called to do, I also believe it is disordered. I am not their priest and even if I were I would not discuss their souls with the likes of you. Before you cast dispersions on people whom you have never met, I suggest that you take to heart that Jesus will judge you has you judge others. It's in the Bible, look it up.

What? You didn’t like being associated with the “group”? I suppose you do believe you serve the same god as Muslims though right?
