Several months ago, one of my co-workers was speaking with a Christian university campus minister about the issue of abortion, and he dismissed the topic with a wave.
Abortion isnt prevalent at our school," he said. "Contraception is widely available, but our students also take sexual purity to heart.
I was a bit suspicious of his answer, so I spoke with a recent graduate of the same university about her thoughts.
I suspect one in three women on campus have had an abortion, she said matter-of-factly. It may be higher. Christian kids dont want to deal with the shame a pregnancy brings. So they abort instead of tell their parents.
Why are Christians aborting their children? They dont fully understand and accept the gospel. And they arent being discipled. They know Jesus and accept Him as Savior but do not know or understand His lordship. They do not know the radical, transformative, awe-inspiring impact of being discipled.

I think I see the problem right there.
One thing leads to another.
they do not take birth control because they know they should not have premarital sex... but they are weak, and so they have unprotected sex, which sometimes results in pregnancy... they do not want to lose face and admit to their fellow Christians that they sin and have premarital sex, so they try to hide it by aborting the pregnancy... some Christians end up having multiple abortions... i used to be a counselor at the local Crisis Pregnancy Center...
I would guess it’s because they’re having sex when they shouldn’t.
This is terrible! Who let sinners into the church?
“I suspect one in three women on campus have had an abortion, she said matter-of-factly. It may be higher. Christian kids dont want to deal with the shame a pregnancy brings. So they abort instead of tell their parents.”
That really does not seem plausible as I don’t Imagine that Christian women have abortions, and we know that being raised in a Christian church leads kids to be closer to their parents.
In addition, there is no shame in pregnancy, especially in a Christian family.
No matter how "matter of fact" this statement is, that doesn't make it accurate. This person doesn't know how many abortions occur among students, any more than the quoted administrator does.
If the comments on that page are posted by today’s “Christians’ then that is all you need to know.
It is almost like they believe that God forgives sin or something.
It’s terrible, but there are no perfect humans. We all have to strive each day to avoid sin.
You can’t have fornication without easy abortion, and many people want fornication.
It’s not just “young people,” although of course they’re the ones with the pregnancy issue, usually. It’s extremely common on FR to find people who are well on in middle age, who profess Christianity, reminiscing about their fornicating years as the best time of their lives.
This is what you want, this is what you get.
God does forgive sin, but God does not bring dead babies back to life or make abortion un-happen for the adults involved.
Sorry. Not buying the premise of the article.
I thought it sounded high. I don’t think that one in three of the general (female) population has had an abortion. But I don’t know, either.
Christianity is easy until it is not - then it is VERY difficult.
But all things are possible through Christ.
We had friends in a previous parish whose daughter came home for Christmas with an unwanted “gift”. The parents were shamed and stayed away from Church for several months, but the “girl” stayed true, had the baby, and eventually married the Father. They made a truly “blessed” couple!
I think that, if you divide the estimated number of abortions over a period of time by the estimated number of potentially-pregnant women, you get something between 1-to-2 and 1-to-3. However, that doesn’t spread out evenly over the population.
It’s rather like the “Half of marriages end in divorce,” canard, which “fact” was establish by dividing the number of marriages in one year by the number of divorces ... and established forever as Gospel truth. A recent attempt to track down the actual numbers came up with a result closer to 1-in-4.
I agree. It’s my understanding that the number is inflated because some women have multiple abortions. I met two of them.
94% of women regret their Abortions.
Woman Know they took the life of an innocent unborn.
Then Most women suffer a delayed PTSD
5 Years Later
10 Years Later
15 Years later.
I was doing a Prolife Fundraiser CHANGE for LIFE after every Mass during October collecting baby Bottles full of Cash.
A woman 36 years old was in back of Church she was frozen in fear with a finger on a Rachels Vineyard Brochure. I told her I would make the Call for her. I did she made an appointment with a Counselor. Then hugged me crying for 10 Minutes. She then said she had an abortion summer after High school. 18 years later she was a wreck.
2 years later I was standing outside mass and she says hello and Gives me a hug. Pulls me aside and says Thank YOU!
I say... for what? She says for saving my life... She said she was going to commit SUICIDE the day after I 1st met her and made the Call to Rachels Vineyard!
To This day I don’t know her Name but she is at Peace with God and herself. I witnessed it!
Don’t mock woman for not wanting pre-marital sex they have very good Marriages 98.1% stay Married because they grew as a couple. BTW you refrain from sex 6-9 months before Marriage you have a 91% chance of a successful marriage!
Read Humanae Vitae it explains it all including Contraception.
It was written in 1968 Predicted correctly 2014 and Homosexual Marriage.
Who are you going to have in your church if not sinners?
