EDMONTON, AB, June 5, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) An expectant Canadian mother is asking for prayers and financial support after the cancer she beat nearly five years ago returned just after becoming pregnant with her first baby.
Chantal Gauthier-Vaillancourt, a popular midwife in Edmonton, was first diagnosed with malignant melanoma in her right eye in 2009. Ocular melanoma is a rare and aggressive form of cancer that can be fatal if left untreated, as it often spreads to the liver and other organs.
Gauthier-Vaillancourt underwent radiation therapy and natural treatments to fight the cancer, and she was soon told by doctors that the cancer was in remission. However, they warned her to wait to become pregnant, as the biggest risk for a recurrence of cancer is within the first five years of remission. It is not considered safe to undergo radiation therapy during pregnancy due to the high risk of injury to the baby.
Gauthier-Vaillancourt followed her doctors orders and waited five years before trying for a baby with her husband. The couple were overjoyed when they learned they had conceived, but just eight weeks into the pregnancy, doctors delivered some devastating news: the cancer was back. Even worse, there was a 25 percent chance it would spread to the baby through the placenta.

From the story:
At 28 weeks, Gauthier-Vaillancourts doctors gave her the bad news while her placenta is still free of tumors, the melanomas continued growth means the chances the cancer will spread to her baby have jumped to 70 percent.
That risk was too great for Gauthier-Vaillancourt to accept, but she still did not want to undergo radiation therapy that could harm the growing baby inside of her. So she made a drastic decision in order to save her baby, she will let doctors remove her entire eye.
St. Gianna Molla pray for this woman.
Also pray that the baby is born perfectly healthy.

my sentiments exactly - expect to be placed on the Catholic hater list
exactly.
Christians pray to Jesus. I don’t know what faith prays to dead human mortals.
When you die, your body dies. But not your soul. Your soul goes to meet Jesus Christ, perfect justice, who will send you one way or the other.
The saints in heaven hear our prayers and pray for us.
Even here on earth, did you ever call someone and have them say, “Oh, I was just thinking about you!”
Prayers are on the way.
Jesus hears our prayers, pray as he did.
If you insist on praying to Saints, just pray to me, I’m a saint. It might be easier just to phone though, I’m not Omni present, only God is.
I’ve been on the Catholic hater list for a while now.
I pray that eyes are opened though and that the Holy spirit moves people to open their eyes to the truths of God’s word. I would love nothing more than to call them brothers and sisters in Christ.
In the case of Mrs. Gauthier-Vaillancourt it sounds like the initial radiation treatment of her eye was incomplete. The article mentions her use of "natural treatments". No such treatments are known to be effective for ocular melanoma.
God will SMILE on this mother and Bless her forever!!
what happens in the physical in no way translates to Gods Heavenly Realm. I'm lost on where the Bible...even your NASB says Saints intercede, having the ability to pray for us
.....and this is where you (Catholics) lose people - you have to admit there are some extra-Biblical behaviors going on, no?
In a rigid sense, having these earthly intercessors, chosen by our hand, diminish the role of Christ in intercessory matters and begins to erode the Triune nature of the Godhead....and we've not even touch on Mary's intercessory works.
that said - Ive pinged the others you pinged as well- my apologies if its an intrusion, please ignore if that's the case
It reminds me of the people who think humans can become angels after death, which is not Biblical either.
Not Bible Idolatry again?
