Hi R-C,

I was following a thread and what I thought they were discussing was the original version in English of the current KJV of the bible as versus the current original Catholic English translation which was the Dougy-Rheims.

My understanding was the first “official” English translation from the Latin Vulgate was that commissioned by King Henry VIII. Prior to that there was no “English” translation from the Latin.

I agree that the KJV was a subsequent translation of a translation; which initially started with King Henry.

Just like the current version of the Catholic Bible, the New American Bible, is not like the original Dougy-Rheims; so too the current KJV is not like the original translation by Henry VIII’s scholars.

I am sure I will stand corrected by both the protestants and Catholics on this.

AMDG

Well, we all get flamed by the zealots of their religions from time to time.

With whom are you agreeing, here? That is a factually incorrect statement.

Well, the FACTS have shown THAT to be wrong.

With WHOM are you agreeing here?

And where is the EVIDENCE that what you've stated here is not also 'misunderstood'?

If you feel this way, then why waste time posting dubious stuff?

It just confuses any lurkers that might come along.
