you be halfway!
Did she HEAR that?
HOW do you know if she did or not?
Previous comments made it appear that the one daniel was speaking with had made indication, by use of the phrase "original language" the scripture was written in Latin. Can you see it now?
As far as I can tell, she had just gotten a bit tangled up at that juncture, and was thinking of Latin being more "original" than later English translation, yet never quite cleared that up herself, before continuing on with other discussion.
Which means you could have saved the lecture.
On the other hand, as to the question of what a collection of "they" persons wrote in Latin by their own autograph as opposed to translations from Hebrew & Greek) if one is to regard Gregory the Great as inspired --- it is quite yet more to present claim that he, as you put it at the bottom of your note, in your own words;
Where does the [Roman] Catholic church teach that Gregory "wrote as the Holy Spirit dictated to him"?
Or are you merely expressing your own opinions, even as you insulting said of what dan-the-freeper-man writes of, regardless of what he says (and often, well enough sources)
Would you care to explain your own "babbling" annalex (yet another "internet babbler"?), such as that which claims Gregory wrote as the Spirit "dictated", thus making that man's words into being holy writ?
It is interesting that you come right out and say it like that, for a previous contention and complaint among Protestants is that amid [Roman] Catholicism, there has been tendency to treat writings of past note-worthies as holy writ, thus having greatly expanded the canon somewhat by default --- and without much of any effort to provide clear discrimination and/or delineation between what could or should be regarded as even "inspired" (rather than informed by tradition) -- with you here now, indicating in the instance of Gregory a going beyond "inspired" to a "dictated by".
Would you bring for us what the more official "opinions" and the "faith of the Church" is in this regard, so we can better see just what opinions have been as you say "rejected" and just who is doing the babbling?
Nothing else will suffice. So spare me anything and everything else which my come to mind as your own opinion concerning the issue --- and show us just where this "having been dictated by the Holy Spirit" has been said by due authority (as you would or may recognize such) to apply, to "prelates and doctors of the Church", for by your own comments, you have said outright that condition is applicable to Gregory, and by other mention you include also "prelates and doctors" as "inspired". Those terms -- both "inspired" and "dictated" have meanings and/or regard all their own, when said in regard to canon, and written works in past centuries brought into consideration for either inclusion, or exclusion.
If Gregory the Great wrote "as dictated by the Holy Spirit", then --- every papist in the universe (merely for being a papist) is in a heap of trouble. Or simply wrong, if they be otherwise ignorant of what that man wrote.
And if it was dictated, then why the sneaky-sneaky all these long centuries, in having not more formally included those written works as canon of holy writ, while regarding them enough the same, enough to bash poor 'ol dan (the reject? when did the Roman Catholic Church reject dan?) over his noggin? Rhetorically speaking.
Bring it -- or go back to caucus walls where none (other than those self identifying as 'Catholic') are allowed to contest with you.
Ooooooops!
Silly Prot!
That's an ASK - NOT a 'pray'!
Dang!
I go to lunch and Swiss Cheesieness takes over the thread!

Anybody you know?

exaleiphó !
I never have prayed to Mary. I don’t know what you are talking about. Also, up thread the mod specifically wrote that I can’t post links to threads. I’m just betting that your post with a thread link won’t get pulled even though mine did. I’m just betting.

If the forum was truly rigged, why would you bet your money?
Theologians commonly require four conditions so that gaming may not be illicit. If any of these conditions be wanting, gambling becomes more or less wrong; and, besides, there is generally an element of danger in it which is quite sufficient to account for the bad name which it has.
- What is staked must belong to the gambler and must be at his free disposal. It is wrong, therefore, for the lawyer to stake the money of his client, or for anyone to gamble with what is necessary for the maintenance of his wife and children.
- The gambler must act freely, without unjust compulsion.
- There must be no fraud in the transaction, although the usual ruses of the game may be allowed. It is unlawful, accordingly, to mark the cards, but it is permissible to conceal carefully from an opponent the number of trump cards one holds.
- Finally, there must be some sort of equality between the parties to make the contract equitable; it would be unfair for a combination of two expert whist players to take the money of a couple of mere novices at the game.

Rules are rules.
I still don’t see it. Where did I pray to Mary? Also, the gambling bit cracks me up. You’re giving me flashbacks to the Baptist church we went to until they told women they couldn’t wear shorts for volleyball because it would cause men to lust. The men could continue to wear them of course. As to my use of the term bet, there is such a literary device called hyperbole. Look it up.
Thanks for the chuckle. I needed that today! Monday funday!
It's GOTTA be them; for Catholics are perfect!
Except those who just broke them and have not had their posts pulled.
As demonstrated above (351), you seem to be mistaken.
So for curiosity, have you, or anybody you know, ever prayed to dead bodies on exhibit?
Hmmm. Still not seeing it.
So then you're a former Baptist, current Catholic?
