But is a Catholic caucus gathering to discuss Catholic issues without disruption from non-Catholics really different than conservatives gathering to discuss conservative issues? I don’t think it is different. I would counsel not being too harsh with the Religion Forum. There are good reasons it is the way it is.

I hear your words but disagree with how they are used. Why lecture me? Why are you offering me counsel as if I had requested it?

The article's title under the Latest Articles heading was not marked a "Catholic caucus"; it wasn't one. It was marked as "premillennial caucus" and was not clear at first that it was a private thread where I was not permitted to post. And private for just which FReepers?

The fact that I broke no FR or Religion forum rules and am a premillennialist seems of little consequence to those FReepers who conveyed displeasure that I was posting on their particular FR forum that was unclearly marked private: One FReeper private-messaged me his/her judgments and accusations.

The fact that I was not arguing against premillinnialism at all did not appear in your response to me. Moderators gang tackled me last night and for why?

If, as a premillianialist, I am not allowed to post civil comments on a FR Religion forum premillianillism caucus thread, I wonder what the real motivation was for excluding me, insulting me as an established FReeper, and being giving suggestions to leave the premises.

Finally, You may believe the reasons (unwritten rules on who is welcome to post and who is not) are good for the treatment I was given yesterday on this thread, but we disagree on that. I'm not referring to the Religion forum moderator's written rules for this portion of Free Republic but more at the deaf and dumb spirit of defensiveness garnered at me last evening and then blindly denied later.

Free Republic's members may be better served by private threads within public FR forums that are individually password-protected. You know, to keep out the riff-raff.

The point of a conservative forum is to keep out the riff raff.

Also, it wasn’t “lecturing”; it was sharing a point of view with one who had made comments on the thread regarding the RF rules. I was giving you background and rationale.

Now, the fact that you are a pre-millennialist really has nothing to do with your personal displeasure with the rules of the Religion Forum. So, this was really a side discussion, but it was not one that was anti-premill.

Therefore, I thought it invited a response. If that was not your intent, then please forgive me.
