A method of establishing the credibility of the Christian faith by appealing to the subjective satisfaction that the faith gives to a believer. This method tends to ignore, if not deny, the corresponding value of objective criteria for accepting divine revelation, notably miracles and prophecies. The latter alone are finally demonstrative of the fact of revelation. Therefore immanentist apologetics runs the danger of leaving Christians with purely personal motives for their faith and without intellectually convincing grounds as to why they believe.

I am a loyal and faithful Catholic. I attend Mass every week, I am a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and a volunteer in my Church, but that does not make an a mindless drone who never questions anything. Here some areas where I disagree with the Church:
1) Mandatory priestly celibacy. There is no such requirement for it ever mentioned in the Bible, not in the Old Testament, not in the New Testament, not in the Gospels. It was not something that came about until the Middle Ages, used as a tool to root out corruption in the Church, primarily nepotism.
2) Papal Infallibility: Let the current Pope’s most recent comments on economic policy serve as a reminder that even popes make mistakes from time to time.
3) The Virgin Mary: Not always a virgin her ENTIRE life. She was happily married and Mary and Joseph did have other children after Jesus was born. His brothers and sisters are mentioned in the Bible. And there is no scriptural basis that Mary herself was conceived in an Immaculate Conception as some Catholics believe.
We Catholics have the right to practice our faith and make our rules. But we do not have the right to re-write history or re-write the Bible.

Rather than a machine gun approach, let’s review each and every passage in context to see if it supports your position. Do one at a time. Start with mandatory priestly celibacy. Show me ONE passage in the Bible which requires celibacy as a condition for serving in the priesthood and we’ll take it from there.
Priestly celibacy is a discipline not a dogma or doctrine. It’s merely something the Church decided was a better practice. There are, in fact, married Catholic priests today.
I forgot to mention that papal infallibility does not apply to every statement that the pope makes or even his official writings. In fact there are very few such infallible decrees in the history of the Church.
Yes. Agreed. Mandatory priestly celibacy has NOTHING to do with anything which can be found in the Bible. In fact priests were married men in the Bible.
Yes, agreed. Popes are human too. Therefore all are sinners and subject to human error just like the rest of us.
