Just take the kid to the next parish over, sheesh the Catholics are under satanic attack and don’t have that many people, so instead of whining, help

Our son will be starting school next year

Public school, or a private Catholic school? I can only assume a public school, as a Catholic one would provide all the necessary education.

So this person's question is "why doesn't my parish offer everything?" I can only answer, "wake up to reality." Catholic dioceses in many area are consolidating parishes and services because they don't have the personnel or the resources. It's the way things are. You have to make due with what you have, and that might mean providing additional instruction at home.

Long ago the Catholic Church stopped worrying about teaching Religion in grade schools. They don’t have the Wonderful Nuns who gave their time without pay for the Love of Christ. Catholic education is the worse for that loss of dedicated People.I have had 12 years of Catholic education and I am the better for that. Both my children did not receive Catholic school Ed.’ they don’t have the strong background that my wife and I had.
There was no Room at the schools where we lived ever!
Great amounts of money was spent in legal battles over the last decade or more, More’s the pity.

But aren’t they still required to provide religious instruction for the ones who do, instead of pawning the responsibility off on another church?

Actually YOU as a parent are responsible for your child's religious education. Quit trying to pawn it off on another person.

Is Every Catholic Church a Parish?

Our parish has two churches about a mile and a half apart.
