Pastor Eugene Cho detailed the events of the photo’s posting and said the posting is “a learning opportunity” for everyone to be wary of each other’s cultures.
wary adjective: not having or showing complete trust in someone or something that could be dangerous or cause trouble

Don’t worry Rick. I don’t follow false teachers.

I don’t know whether Pastor Warren or any of us here in the West could have looked at the photo of a ChiCom Soldier and known it had been taken during the period 1966-76.

Rick needs to apologize. There is a big differnce between the sermon on the mount and evil gaurds. Man up and apologize Rick!

Good for Rick Warren having a sense of humor. I understand he also gives to charity, such that he is not growing vastly wealthy like some pastors/churches featured here.

Some mega churches and pastors deserve scorn and ridicule, others do not.

Warren was wrong to use this type of image as an example of his staff.

It clearly belongs as an image of the Obamao Administration.

I agree. A fairly obvious joke. Some people can’t take dark humor.

Which raises the question, should a church practice dark humor?

“The typical attitude of Saddleback Staff as they start work each day.”

was Warren comparing his staff to Chinese Communist Party drones, of the Red Guard era (or now) - serfs who follow the words of the head guy as if he were a G-d

if I were on his staff I would not call that funny

He knew exactly what he was doing, and his mockery of Jesus and the word of God is filthy.

Just like him.

“People often miss irony on the Internet. It’s a joke people! If you take this seriously, you really shouldn’t be following me!” Warren posted as a comment. “Did you know that, using Hebrew ironic humor, Jesus inserted several laugh lines — jokes — in the Sermon on the Mount? The self-righteous missed them all while the disciples were undoubtably giggling!”

I was sympathetic with the 'Megachurch pastor's' joke until I read Rick Warren's blasphemous comments about the Sermon on the Mount.
What "laugh lines" in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew chapters 5-7) is Warren talking about? The Lord's Prayer? Keeping your treasures in heaven and not on earth? 'Enter ye in at the strait gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many go in thereby'? Showing that God's standards are such that anger with someone without a cause is murder; or to lust after a woman who is not your wife is adultery?...

Where exactly are these "laugh lines" that Rick Warren speaks of?

The picture was simply typical “socialist realism art” common in China for 40+ years after 1949. it was of course prevalent during the Cultural Revolution and period of the Red Guards, but could have applied to any time or period in Communist China as well. Farm girls, workers, actresses - were all portrayed in this style.

It means nothing and Warren has nothing to apologize for.

You know what? You and I are just as filthy.

“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”

Isaiah 64:6

“It means nothing and Warren has nothing to apologize for.”

While you and I agree, read some posts here. Several disagree.

The know-it-all branch of self-righteous “Christians.”
